Default CATCH CAN, LS1 valley cover, PCV really needed???

What will happen if the car is run without a PCV valve, i really dont see the need for it besides if there is a backfire...

I just installed a catch can and dont see the need for the pcv valve

Anyone wanna share some light on this, its importance, if any?

Chris

I just removed my entire pcv system and built my own vented catch can. If your going to take it off make sure crank case pressure can get out of the catch can and that the intake manifold is caped off. Here's some pics of mine.

You want to have better control of the vacuum. Keep the pcv and you'll have better idle.

Well after the blower I pushed the seal out of the timing cover @5,000rpm on the dyno, due to crank case pressure. Since venting the rocker covers to the atmosphere havent had any problems. It's 2" pvc and about 6'' tall. Just wanted to make sure I never have to clean 5 quarts of oil out of my engine bay ever again.

i tried sucking on the valve , and really noticed no difference in the vacuum levels being reduced, maybe mine is trash though...it does seal through on pressure...

The valve closes down at high vacuum (idle) and opens wider on low vacuum, there is no downside in my view to keeping the valve versus a straight through to the catch can set up.

still kind of confused how is there higher vacuum at idle then at WOT...the engine is trying to pull more air into it through the intake causing more vacuum...

My car idles just the same, 910rpm on my obd2 gauge. and just as smooth. Same #'s on my vac/boost gauge. Cant tell a difference.

There has to be a restriction to produce vacuum, ie the throttle being closed. If you were to look at a boost or vacuum gauge it would go to 0 under wot conditions, assuming you're not boosted.
