LS6 intake worth it?
Current mods are in my sig. Honestly, don't see any other mods in the future...at least not for this car (except maybe a tune). Stock cam is staying in, as there's no $$ for another. I'm after a little more hp and tq, but this car will never see the track, and top end (over 6k rpm) is out of the question. So, would a LS6 intake be worth it for ME?

I'll go against the grain and say no. I don't see why you would put all that stuff on if your not going to the track or race it I only picked up 6rwhp from my ls-6 and that power only comes in from 3k on up. Also your going to have to fork out around 400 for another tune (also get rid of the egr codes). If you change your mind wait to put everything on at once.

Yes, on the LS6, some 1.8 roller rockers for added valve lift, a tune & she'll wake right up. Just make sure that you understand how to properly install the rockers w/ the proper length push rods or have it done @ a shop. Good-luck

I just talked to the owner of a local shop in Sacramento because I told him I wanted to get the LS6 intake and a tune. He told me that he really suggests I get a FAST 78mm intake manifold becuase they do a lot of f-body work and really only see minimal gains with the LS6.

I would look into a good Cat Back exhause system.. then maybe a LS6 intake.. if your looking for more.. maybe Headers (if you can get by the smog laws). A good tune.
These simple bolt on and a tune will help a stock engine the most and keep everythinig driveable and reliable.

Now this is a very interesting idea...1.8's huh? This raises a few questions (without having researched this):
1) Piston-to-valve clearance problems?
2) Rocker-to-valve cover clearance probs.?
3) Tune necessary for this mod?
4) Any dyno results proving gains for this mod alone?

install SLP 1.85 RR's and picked up something like 8 or 9 horse. he was not pleased. they are not worth it in my opinion. Too much $$$ for that little gain.
I would do a mild cam before I spend $500+ on RR plus installation.

1)Valves are closed. There is no PTV clearance issue.
2)Maybe, depends on what you buy.
3)Yes, as noted originally
4)I tune on the street w/ EFI live. Further, a dyno would prove nothing. Too many Dyno variables involved when trying to measure a single mod like rockers. I could do nothing to my car & pick up 8 to 9 HP on a different day on the same dyno.
Yes, the airflow increased after adding 1.8's to my mild cam. I can log airflow w/ EFI Live. IMO, 1.8 rockers are a good way to to help small cams when the owner doesn't want the hassle of doing a swap "for small or stock cams ONLY." The rockers don't have to cost $500 either.
I stand by my statement that an LS6 intake & properly installed 1.8 rockers will wake your car up w/ less hassle than a cam swap.

This was sort of my line of thinking too. By the time I've spent $300 for the intake, and another $50+ for the two coolant lines (I wouldn't plug my back ones), I wonder if the hp/$ is worth it. I also understood from a couple of other posters in another thread that, if there is any noticeable increase in hp/tq, it's in the higher rpm's only (where I probably will seldom if ever see it).
Btw, I haven't tuned my car yet, since installation of LTs, ORY, and deletion of EGR/AIR. I was waiting to see what other mods I might want to do....so I could pay for a tune only once.

One more thing first link tells you the dangers of the opsu even after reading this you still will probably brake it.

2nd link shows a picture where you chisel off the fins of the ls-6 so you don't have to spend 50 bucks to get the new steam lines
