If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?

If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?
What do you have now and what would you get?
I have mid-length's, ORP, CC Inserts, stock I-pipe and Magnaflow muffler. Sounds good except at WOT.
My next system is a LoudMouth with a 4" CC Insert in the resonator, and an SLP CME to finish it off.

Re: If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?
I'd go X-pipe, Q-tecs before the mufflers, exits out the back to reduce drone. I'm not sure what mufflers I would put back there. I'd do Spintechs again perhaps.
But, being in Cali, I see your dilemma with keeping emmissions compliance. I saw one really convoluted custom dual electric/ y-pipe job posted here a couple of months ago which kept emmissions integrity.

very nice
i have to agree, i woulda stopped messing around and just gone straight to my duals as well.
if not duals, then GMMG

Re: If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?
I would have gone with either Kooks or Jet Hots for headers and Y-pipe instead of QTP. I would have still done the 3 inch 3 disc CC inserts instead of Carsound Cats.
I would still have the Corsa catback. This probably would ahve saved me quite a bit of money but then again it's all trial and error...
maybe I should have just saved my money and used it for a blower...

Really?
Wonder what i am doing....
you saw the pics of my V9 right?

Re: If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?
First what I've had:
Stock
Stock with Zed Cutout
Hooker LT's, ORY-pipe, Cutout
Hooker LT's, ORY-pipe, bullet in the I-pipe, cutout
Hooker LT's, ORY-pipe, bullet in the I-pipe, Loudmouth
Hooker LT's, ORY-pipe, bullet in the I-pipe, Loudmouth with 2 chambered mufflers welded in to resemble GMMG.
If I could start over I would keep the Hooker LT's then put an X-over pipe and duals dumping before the axle with some kind of mufflers. It's relatively cheap, lighter than a y-pipe + catback, sounds awesome, and outflows any y-pipe style exhuast which equals more hp & trq.
I've never heard an LS1 exhaust that had headers and no cats that sounded good at any rpm that still went thru a y-pipe.

I hadn't either until I installed these QTP headers and ORY-pipe with the stock muffler. There is absolutely NO drone. I've had Macs and Whispers with a B&B Tri-flo exhaust before so I know what drone is.

I had the stock exhaust with the Hooker LT's and ory-pipe and it sounded smooth, no rasp, but then again it was barely louder than stock. You could really tell how bad the stock muffler choked the engine when I'd close the cutout, the rpms would hang up and drop very slow compared to when the cutout was open.

Consists of Grott (I think QTPs are the current equiv.) long tubes bolted to a very special 3" custom LG made Y-pipe. The Y has a 3" bullet on each side. Those 3" sides go through the Flowmaster D-port 2-1 collector into a 4" Mullex with a 2 out Spintech muffler. Soon Im going to put some cats in it and it should quiet down and sound even more rumbly.
There is no rasp or resonance at any RPM, and it doesnt hit the car and make noise either.

and the before and after the Y-pipe (seriously...no other changes, the stock MAF made no difference when tested by itself)

I like it when I run my SLP dual dual with electric cutout.
For track events that require mufflers I run my Corsa.

Re: If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?
I would go with a true dual from speed inc. and use 2 glass packs for mufflers The sound is awsome, not to mention minimal restriction

i would not wast my money on c exhaust.if i could do it again,i would leave my stock one and just use the q-tec cutout w/headers.

definetly true duals with x pipe. I love this exhaust better than any of the others I have had and I have had
stock
loudmouth
hooker
hooker with qtec.

Re: If you could do it all over, what exhaust would you get?
I got macs, ory, and 1otl ultraflo catback. Very quiet from idle-2ks rpms. After that the drone/rasp starts to kick in.
If I were to do it over again Id go with a magnaflow muffler. Its a little taller than the dynomax muffler. I think it would help the drone a little bit.
Another option would be to run a smaller muffler straight off the over the axle pipe exiting on the passenger side. This would eliminate 2 90 degree bends for a less restriction while being slightly lighter.
I think that the problem with some catbacks is they were designed for stock manifolds and cats. As soon as you add headers and ory they become too loud. With a ypipe its gonna sound like poor no matter what. Might as well have a quiet catback.
