i hope that the power band is not shifted up to high like there test shows. I want to shift at 7000 on my nova but dont want to give up anything from 5000 up . I hope that it works good with the cam I have and does not call for a different grind.

Edelbrock Pro-Flo XT Intake For LS1

The Test
Edelbrock's been at it on the dyno with there new intake manifold and 90mm throttle body for the LS1. Compared with the stock LS6 intake on the company's 5.7L LS1 Corvette Z06 engine, the Edelbrock combo allowed massive amounts of air with the larger plenums and fuel with the throttle body to enter the engine.

Before
Max power: 447 hp @ 6,500
Max torque: 428 lb-ft @ 4,500
Average power: 341 hp
Average torque: 396 lb-ft

After
Max power: 483 hp @ 6,498
Max torque: 431 lb-ft @ 4,993
Average power: 347 hp
Average torque: 400 lb-ft
Difference : +36 hp; +3 lb-ft

Price: $835

that's compared to ls6 intake...so this intake looks to have to same gains as a PORTED 90-92 fast (on average)

if the ls6 engine was stock, this should mean good things for cam/heads or even cam only cars as one would expect even better gains

huh what say what?
gains of 36hp on average are not impressive? on a stock vehicle no less.
i agree, there didnt seem to be much torque gain, but there is likely an explanation for that.... like perhaps the ls6 intake gives kick *** torque already?

I'm glad to see this product, but it has all the technology of a tunnel ram.

If you cut this apart and a LS6 intake the OEM has a lot more tuning for velocity and distribution. I'm guessing low on torque for a small cam 346 street car below 5K rpm.

You make it sound like that's a bad thing. Tunnel rams work!

i have a request for me and the rest of the GTO community. Can you please see if this will fit on a GTO? PArticularly if it will fit the 05-06 as they have more clearance due to the hood.

Why would you want to shorten the runners? DO you have something against low-mid range torque? Besides that, shortening the runners would defeat the purpose of this intake. IF you wanted a top end (rpm) manifold, why not go with a Vic JR, or Super Victor, or that new tuned fiber intake, or a gm carb style intake, or etc. etc. There are lots of intakes with shorter runners for higher rpm to choose from.
