Default Decided on the Weiand

I think ive decided on the Weiand intake manifold. From what i gather it has relatively same flow/hp/tq#'s as the LS6 but it seems easier to find a Weiand (new) for cheaper than a LS6 (new). Also i havent heard of any fitment/leakage problems on the Weiand and rufuse to buy into the heatsoak garbage. I also have an 80mm tb im running. I like the idea of being able to port the manifold to multiply the benifit of larger than stock tb and you cant do that with an LS6. If anyone has had problems with the Weiand please let me know before i make my purchase! Install issues?

You're talking about the Weiand cast aluminum intake??

Why not wait for the Street Warrior to come out?? Its a better intake in every possible way. The Gen IV design was delayed, but the Gen III version should be out this month.

There's a reason they're not very popular. Keep "search"ing.

What is the weight difference over a FAST? I assume fast is close to stock.

I have a BBK, I prefer it to the weiland aluminum. I put down 370 to the rear through a 6 spd on a stock cam car with headers.

heat soak is a joke unless you stop.

agreed. its been delayed forever and then some...

to the op, is there a special reason why you arent considering a used ls6? your post makes it seems like you are in for a budget intake and HAVE to have a brand new one

I just have a thing against buying a used part when an equally performing new part costs a fraction more. I hear alot of guys talking about picking up ls6 im's for little more than $200 but on both ebay and LS1tech sales page i see none going for less than 300 USED wo gaskets shipping etc. Im tired of waiting and this is the first ive heard of it not being up to par w/the ls6. Unless you have some evidence of it being sig. weaker on a flow chart then dont even bother with the alm.vs.composite trash. If they flow the same - im good.

as for you guys bent on FAST setups - i just dont see how you can figure that $500 + (easy) can compare to $350 or - (easy). I dont need a $900 intake on a $9K car w/140k miles - thats a damn house payment damn near. And i do have a thing against used parts off the internet, im just wierd like that (iguess?).

The aluminum Weiand is a very good intake. I ran one for 4 years & only recently went w/ the LS6 soley for the weight reduction. I also measured the airflow through both intakes, using my 85mm MAF, & noted the results in a thread named "My findings, ported LS6 vs ported Weiand." In terms of performance on your car, you will be happy with either. Good-luck

i also have ran one myself for a few years now. i love it and ran 9.30's with a stock throttlebody. can't say they don't flow well. i just got done modifying mine to a 90mm and polished it as well but wont get to see what it does. i am going in a different direction for next year.
