Default patriot or TSP heads?

Looking to do heads and cam on my ta budget is a concern I've kinda zeroed in on TSP PRC stage 2.5, 5.3 heads or the 98-02 LS1 Patriot LS6 "Style" 5.7L Stage III Heads. Anybody have any input on which ones would work best? The cam is gonna be something along the lines of TSP's MS4, car is gonna be street/strip oriented.

i like TSP PRC heads. i would choose TSP PRC 2.5 5.3 heads. stage 3 heads are too much for the street, stage 2.5 heads are the most you can go with for street/strip.

LS1's. if you installed stage 3 heads in car and 2.5 heads in another car with the same cam in each car in stock displacment LS1's the car with the 2.5 heads will be quicker, even if not faster.

So...specifically, what is the difference between stg 2.5 and 3 heads? I think the opinion that "Stage 3 is too much for the street" is well, ****, unless you can tell me the specific differences between the two that would constitute "stage 3" being non-streetable.

stage 3 heads have bigger ports than stage 2.5 heads that means less air velocity for stage 3 heads. you need port velocity for the street.

I would definately recommend taking a look at our 2.5 5.3l heads. With the smaller runners, smaller chambers, and larger valves you get a great bang for your buck pick up in power. The only thing is the MS4 cam will not fit without flycutting, our MS3 will fit just make sure and tell us you are running that cam when you order the heads and we can sink the valves for it. If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me or call us at the shop!

Patriot and I think TSP as well do not have bigger ports for stage 3. The valve sizes may be bigger but there is not a different program for the runner on the stage 3's.

If you are set on the MS4 camshaft, and do not want to flycut, you're looking at Stage 1 LS6 heads or AFR/TrickFlow. We can help with any of these. Give us a call!

still bigger valves means bigger port volume ( because you have to rework the valve bowl for the bigger valve) and that usualy means less air velocity.

stage 2.5 heads are the most for street/strip for stock displacement LS1 engine. stage 3 heads are for strokers (larger displacement LS1 engines).

I thought the stage III were for larger bores as well. They are made for 4.030 IIRC.

I would def go with TSP, I ordered patriots from a sponsor here and after 2 months I still don't have them.

I regret not ordering from TSP,
