I just put mine on last week. I did it in the garage, but a driveway should be ok. Use more than jack stands. Depends on how much you value your life.
Need a sawz-all, 1/2" socket/ratchet, 15mm socket for band clamp after cat. Cut the existing exhaust as high as you can on the bend up over the axle. Yank it all out. Mount new exhaust loose, then tighten up all the clamps. Its really easy. It will take you longer to get the car up and the old off then putting the new on.
BTW: I like it really loud, and the LM is almost too loud. The jury is still out on mine. You can't keep it quiet without a M6.

You only need to jack the car up enough to get under it with ample room to work. I'm not sure how strict the NJ inspecting is, but in CA, technically it's illegal to do any mods to your exhaust. Maybe you would want to do the inspection first, then install the exhaust? Just my $0.02

I lived in NJ for most of my life and I would be really concerned about passing inspection with the LM installed. Take the paperwork with you that says the system is 50 state legal for emissions. The loudness depends on the attendant I would think. Try and keep it quiet and let us know how you make out. I would wait until after inspection to install the LM, then you would get atleast a year out of it! Try not to hack up the stock exhaust too bad incase you need to have it welded back on.
Jason
P.S. Wait until you start the car for the first time with the LM.

It is not illegal to modify your exhaust in CA, as long as the modifications are done AFTER the catalytic converters. Changing exhaust manifolds are allowed also, as long as they have all the emissions connections, bolt up to the stock y-pipe and have a CARB #. Since you are not touching the cats, a LM is legal in all 50 states. Jason is right, wait until you turn that key for the first time.

I think you should inquire on some local noise ordinance laws because I am sure that SLP never stated it would meet "ALL" 50 states. I do not think you will have any problems because you are still running cats.
