Anyone with a cutout even make more power closed?

Maybe.I think it depends on how much motor you have and your tune.I think a proper tune done with them open will bring it pretty close to the most power at any range.Some Super Stock cars add header extentions for more bottom end but not a full exhaust.Other Super Stock cars have just open headers and I'll bet they have tried everything.

This is not always true on the "loss" of lowend with it open. I have a definite increase in power on the low end with my cutout open. I think it has to do with the 2.75" stock catback being too restrictive. Whatever it is, there is a very noticeable difference.

adding my $.01 (dropped by a penny for inflation) when I had my SS
dyno tuned I picked up 5 rwhp & 17 ft/lbs with the cutout open

I have a cutout on a stock ls1 with just exhaust and had it dnyo tuned with it off and made 330hp 346tq and the car will run lean with the cap off unless the cars tuned with it off and your tuner richens it up then when you close it after its tuned properly the car will run a little rich but not anything to worrry about
