LT1 radiator in LS1.. worth it?

Default LT1 radiator in LS1.. worth it?

ok well i have a 2000 trans am A4 and live in FL so it get hot as hell here and since its cool now i want to get my car ready for the summer, i dont have the money for like a griffin or becool radiator, so that said i already have a huge external tranny cooler, lower temp fan setting 187 on 180 off (180 stat)
, i have heard that an LT1 radiator is a bit bigger than an LS1 rad. i can get a new LT1 rad for $130 but will it make a big difference or at least a difference not even worth doing it, and if it is whats involved in doing the swap.... thanks alot in advance

A new Radiator in general will help. The LT1 Radiator is bigger. All you have to do is plug the connection on the bottom drivers side.

the lt1 is pretty much a direct replacement. merv covered what had to be done

I like my massive Be Cool radiator... only downside, is it's HUMONGOUS!

was there a noticable cooling difference from the ls1 to lt1 rad.

its not as good as a becool or anything but it is a bit bigger. if you got one from a junkyard for cheap why not do it?

I have only used an LT1 Rad since that is what I had. biggest difference I saw was putting the stock dual fan on there rather than the 12" fan I was using...but i still have the stock thermo and it gets warm idling in the staging lanes....

however pelase remember modern cars are made to runner a bit hotter. That can be tuned out by changing when your fans come on and off or with a manual switch. Your fans stock are set to start comming on at 212*

LS1 radiator = 7/8" core. LT1 = 1" core.

Howe, Becool, SLP, LG etc... DUAL 1" core. As SoulTKR said.....HUMONGOUS

The biggest reason I went with something other than stock, is the fact that my stock radiator failed in the first place because of the plastic on the stock radiator... what ever I upgraded to, I wanted to make sure it didn't have any more plastic anywhere on it... that **** cracks and spews coolant all over the place... if your not paying attention then bye bye engine
