Balencer and P/S question
Got the crank pulley for my 5.3 swap, and I just cant get it far enough on there for the crank bolt to grab some threads, whats the secret to getting this things started?
The Crank bolt, just by a langer one from a hardware store or a shop the sells the bolts. then just use it with some washers and grease to instal it, just far enough. Then use the old and new bolt following the GM procedure. Again, use the correct tool for the job.

A 4" piece of grade 8 threaded rod, 3 nuts (2 if you can weld), and some washers. Double-nut (or weld a single nut on) one end of the rod, run the other nut all the way on, then stack a pair of washers with grease between them. Set the pulley in place, thread the other into the PS shaft as far as you can, and and run the nut/washers up against the pulley. Hold a backup wrench on the stationary end and turn the loose nut against the pulley to force it on. You'll see why I use grade 8 stuff once you try it with hardware store junk...
