FAST 90/92 or LS-6 for me

FAST 90/92 or LS-6 for me
I'm trying to hit the edge of the roll bar rule 11.50. I am basically doing or have done "FULL" bolt-ons below:
- 3600 Circle-D
- Ported TB
- LT's
- 3":4" custom Y into Flowmaster merge
- 4" exhaust with dump
- Full suspension
- 1.85 roller rockers
- 25% underdrive
- Lid
The last thing I see that can be done without heads/cam is the intake. What increase would I see over my LS-6 and is it even worth it?

Did you see this thread. Bolt on car, fast picked up 10rwhp peak but lost everywhere below 5500rpm:https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamomet...0-results.html

although i think with 1.85s you really are not stock internal anymore...
drop some weight and get some cold air...
dont forget about the ram air...look up sux2bu, my custom ram air, or a FTRA/SSRA...best systems out there

Dont just look at who responds to your thread. Read up, research, look for people who really have experience. Take Tony Mamo for example. Ask him how much the FAST gives up. Just look through his posts, he is an airflow expert! He designs the ports for airflow reasearch's heads, see what he thinks, he has no ties to FAST. He has just figured out how to make the best a little bit better. Here's something to remember too...
Personally I have seen great things with the FAST, sure, buy the LS6 if your short on cash and simply can not wait.
Heck, just got back from reading a thread where a guy took his FAST 78mm(which are typically cheap), and opened the throttle body to 85mm! That's what you do when the funds aren't there, that's ingenuity!. Used parts can be a great way to make good power.

Let me just say that I don't hate the fast intake - in fact I hope to get one someday after I get some decent CNC'd heads on my car.
If you read the dyno section the fast shows great gains on cars making over 400rwhp or so. It can vary a lot on the setup but in general I think that's true. And under 350hp or so it doesn't show much gain over the LS6.

SweetS10V8 - you're the guy who put a fast intake on a 300rwhp car with no bolt on's. Maybe you should do more research sir.

nice gains Sweet.....but you have to admit...you have a couple more cubes with that LS2. and did you go from an ls6 or the ls2 intake?
isn't the ls2 intake about as good as the ls1?
but to the OP...if you are absolutely going for every bolt on possible...i say go for it. pull it apart, bolt it up and port match it to your heads.
while its possible you may lose a smidgen of pwer down low, when racing you're rarely below 4000rpms for long. so a 10hp gain above 5000 would be a benefit.
and i say get track numbers before and after....
YOU can become that informational post that other guys will look at when thinking of doing the same thing.
i've heard so many people put down the FAST on bolt on or cam only cars....so i ponied up and got a ported FAST 90/90. and i tracked down a shop to do a before/after dyno run of the setup.
they are gonna touch up the current tune (needs it) and get dyno numbers (this is with the ls6). they swap in the ported FAST, retune and redyno.
scheduled for Feb 14th....so keep an eye out.

I agree with some of the others here with regard to "Is it worth it, or not"..
I too am running a "Bolted A4".. All of the bolt's... a decent cam (G5X3),LS6 heads (unported),pulley,SVO's,headers,exhaust, LS6 intake w/ pp tb, built RPM4 tranny,Vig3600
I too have purchased a FAST 90/90, 85mm Delphi MAF,FT85mm lid, that i will have intalled @ the end of this month.
I will also post before, after numbers.. Every car is different, I am confident that "for me", i made the right choice when purchasing the FAST combo.. We'll see..
To the "OP", personally, i would do a cam first, heads, FAST.. you already have the bolts, you already have the stall, tie them together with a nice cam..
Just my .02, and i am NO EXPERT...!

So do you think your going cam after this? OR going to take out a little weight?
So i got my exhaust finished btw sir. Im very happy with it. Im looking to get someone who can take a decent sound clip of it.

I think you fall into one of two categories:
- You will eventually add more mods and take advantage of the performance gain that the fast has to offer.
- You just like the look of it. Looks good with the hood open, red vette covers on there too. Nice picture of it posted in your sig.
Either one is fine with me. Good luck to you sir.
