Some say to cut down on static electricity, others say it acts as a heat sink and still others say it's to keep it from coming off. I think it's some GM communication device to alien life forms through their OnStar system.

GM's part description of the wire says that it is for transfering heat and warming up the PCV valve. I don't remember exactley what they call it though.

Things I learned in this thread:

1) The wire is prob to heat up the PCV valve.
2) NMB-LS1 takes OnStar way too seriously.

Either that or he doesn't appreciate the power of the pcv strap.
