Default side exit exhaust?

I was thinking of having my exhaust running out the side before the tire on my 99 ws6 using the stainless camaro style tips. It has headers,3inch x-pipe,and dynomax bullets. I'm wanting to change the mufflers to single chamber flowmasters b/c i think the bullets will be to loud. Also which sound better x-pipe or h-pipe?Do u guys think it will look and sound okay?? Your opinions will be appreciated.

I think that if the Mustangs and NASCAR can do it and they ran Lakepipes on the 'Vettes and you like it go for it.Using the stainless Camaro tips I think it will look good also.If after you get it done and don't like it there won't be much in material to straighten them out to the back. And since the power gain or loss of the X or H depends on the placement or length of pipe take your pick on which is easist to get in.The H will give you more lower tones and will probably sound a little better.

This is off topic, but your SS looks great. Really like the flat black on the spoiler

There where a few guys around here running boom tubes(what nascar uses) in front of the rear tires. They cost like $700 ea for them though. I have thought of the lt1 tips but could never bring myself to try it. I would go X-pipe and single chambers.

If you are thinking that single chambers will be quieter than bullets think again. single chambers are just as loud they just have a different sound. Its doable but ground clearance will be a problem with 3" pipes.

spintech has a muffler that can be used for side exhaust. it has a front inlet/outlet.

Yea i know ground glearance will be a big problem so if i do it i'm probably gonna go with a 2 1/2 in. h-pipe. I kind of figured the one chambers would be just as loud but i figured they would have a better tone then the bullets. I think the bullets are kind of raspy when you bring them out from under the car. Thanks for the comments so far.

Go for it. Something different than the usual tips location. On the western state's forums here someone just got a new exhaust setup with tips exiting in the middle of the bumper.

you can go with a oval exhaust to solve your ground clearance issue. no one said exhaust has to be round.

on a trans am?

personally I think it will look terrible...like trailer park ghetto terrible, not only from the pipes coming out, but also because it will leave 2 large open areas in the back

it's only slightly less terrible looking on a camaro, but can look ok if the right tips are used (any kind of round tip will look like poop)

I have actually thought about notching out some material in the side bumper and flush-mounting some polished Z28 tips (The oval ones) but right before the rear tires. I would like to see if anyone has done anything like this.

i think with the right molding and fitment it would look good, on a camaro. not a bird though, esp since the your rear bumper will be tipless.

the rear bumper is tipless now so i'm not worried about that anyways. I plan on using the camaro style tips.

Im running duals(one chambers) turned down to the side at a 45, I could care less about the rear bumper. Its only cosmetic, not a have too. Look on Dr. Gas website and it shows the spintech side exhaust mufflers. With sound clips and the also sell the oval tubing.

Do you like the one chambers? I also could care less about the rear bumper. It hasnt had anything coming out the back for about 2 years now. Thanks for the comment
