Check out LS1howto.com JMX just did this conversion on his vette. Ive also done this conversion. I went from 454 RWHP to 460 RWHP with just the MAF conversion.

Yeah it does but you also get the benfit of using a bigger MAF <2000 with calibrated values that take the guessing out of the equation when using edit

You can use the stock IAT sensor, or you can use the one in the MAF. It doesn't matter which you choose to use. All you need is a lid that can accept it and a coupler.

So lets talk about fititng the 01-02 MAF on the 98-00 cars... What about the pipeing? How much larger is the newer maf?
I have the K&N FIPK setup, it would be pretty hard to stretch those tubes.

Re: 3-5 wire maf conversion on a F-body
My '02 SS came with the same old aluminum-body
3-wire MAF as every other '98-'02 F-body.
The SLP MAF I have on there now has a 5-wire
connector and a 3-wire adaptor harness which
uses the middle 3 wires of the 5-wire connector.
But I don't know how you'd hook up the other two
wires to your old IAT airbox harness to use the
in-MAF thermistor instead. I think that's the
question this thread was about.
The 5-wire MAFs are 85mm and getting the stock
bellows onto my SLP took some care and effort.
But it went. On the front you're probably talking
Fernco, that special oddball hose that SLP in
fact uses (cut down) to ship with their piece.
As far as the bellows, with the bigger/longer
85mm MAF my stock bellows are fully compressed
when installed; who needs "smooth bellows" when
there are no accordion "valleys" left?

"In 2001, GM changed the format of the mass air flow meters on C5 Corvettes"
Sorry for the misinformation. I missed the "Corvette" at the end of the sentence. Here is the write up http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=25
