Default Underdrive Pulley

I'm wondering what underdrive pulley I should go with - if any at all.

After seeing a few cases of people breaking timing chains with the ASP pulleys, I've become a little skeptical of them. I'm wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to my best option for a pulley...or even if I should run one at all.

The car is an LS1 Formula M6, with TEA TFS 215 heads, a custom ground (very aggressive) camshaft, and all supporting mods (lifters, oil pump etc.)

Thanks!

Edit: I'm not sure if this would be better suited for internal engine, since my main concern is not breaking a timing chain. Mods, feel free to move it if you feel the need to.

gonna do it when i do my H/C. Looks like the SLP UD pulley is the one ill be getting. is it worth it to do a timing chain too? Like the LS2 chain or is that hype?

x2 on the new chain. I got an ls2 chain and sprocket just for reassurance.

As for U/D pulleys, I know atleast 3 people w/ ASP's and they've had no issues.

I'm not sure when people got so scared of ASP pulleys or started randomly replacing timing chains, but it is getting out of hand. I have been on this board for a long time (look at my join date on the left) and I can count on one hand the complaints from the new ASP design. And even then, it is just speculation. If you would rather get a March or Fluidamper, they are great, and go for it, but I wish people would stop spreading rumors.

i heard nothing more about the ASP's than i heard about everything else. My tuner loved them, i ended up selling mine becuase i couldnt stay off the rev limiter with my new stall and gears. but everyone ive talked to has been happy with ASP

I have an ASP because I got a good deal on it and I've heard it weighs less than most others. No problems so far.

^^^yes, ASP is the lightest, but lightest isnt always better. u have to factor in rotational mass as well

If the pulleys all have the same underdrive (same diameter) and it the ASP is the lightest, wouldn't that give it less rotational mass and result in more freed HP?

EDIT: Considering the mass of all the pulleys are uniformly distributed.

I may have to look that up. I know if two objects have the same mass and one has more mass around the edges, it could have more rotational mass than the other. Or something like that, it makes sense in my head but I don't think it's coming out right. Time to do a little reading.

ya its something like that, about mass being transfered to the edge of the pulley. same here, i just cant explain it very well

is this going on a daily driver? i stay away from underdrive pulleys personally, a couple extra horses = slowing down your water pump which could cause issues in a daily driven car
