Don't feel bad factory header bolts are junk. Broke two or three off when I removed the headers on my 6.0 and a 5.3 I used to have luckily the heads were going to the machine shop anyways. The fun part is getting the rest of it out now

When I got my Z the back drivers side bolt had the head broken off. When I installed my LTs I just got nice bolts for the rest and when I have the heads off next time I will worry about taking it out.

Some do that and claim no leaks. I could not live with a bolt broken off in my head and header not fastened!!!

how could you fix that? take the whole thing apart? how likely is it that this would happen?

If you hit them with PB blaster ahead of time most likely you will have no problem. Just use the proper tools and make sure you are wrenching straight.
Mine came out no problem and I was also worried like you beforehand!

No special tools, just the right rachet & sockets. And, if you can always use a 6 pt socket - less chance of stripping.

on fixing it...well if your lucky and I never am, the bolt snapped near the head/nut. If that is the case you can remove the other bolts and pull the header towards the inner fender, then clamp down on whats left of the broken bolt with some vice grip pliers and spin it back out.

If it is stuck in the head, you can try an EZ out (may or may not work), and if that doesn't work, you'll be pulling the head to drill it out if you want it fixed. Any competent machine shop would be able to do that, but with the head still attached to the block, it would probably be impossible to have enough room to get the right tools in there (in other words, take the damn thing off).
