Default FAST 90 worth it over '99 Stock Manifold & FIPK???

I have a '99 camaro with a K&N FIPK intake and the stock intake manifold.

Like the title asks, is it worth the money? Would I be better spending that money on something else to up the HP? You can check my sig to see what I've done so far.

I am getting LTs & an ORY... cutouts and a new catback. But I'm curious about the Intake setup...?

Thanks Fellas!

My truck made 21rwhp just dropping it on, no tuning or anything. It was well worth it to me!

FAST90 over a stock ls1 is an insane difference. There's some other recent thread around here that shows how much of a difference it is. If you want to save some cash, ls6 is a good option.

+1 to that. I went to an LS6 with ported throttlebody and am going with a FAST now. Unless you are looking for a max effort, the $1200+ can be spent on something to give you a little more power with the LS6 manifold.

The mod guide sticky at the top of this section has lots of good info:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...e-posting.html

You have a stock 346ci LS1 with almost no mods. At this point the fast intake won't help at all.

Get your full exhaust first then when you decide on a cam at very least, then I would switch the intake.

Not even over the LS1 intake?

Get headers and exhaust first. Then get whatever intake you can still afford. The combo of headers/exhaust and an LS6 intake will be more powerfull than stock exhaust manifolds and a FAST intake.
It is all about combination.

Least bang for buck mod I think I have done. Pick up a $300 used LS6 IM off the classifieds and put that money somewhere else.

Believe me, I am doing the exhaust first. I've ordered the exhaust parts and I'm saving up for the full intake setup... just trying to decide what to do.

If FAST 90s are so lame then why are they revered so highly on this site? It just makes no sense?

They are kick *** intakes. But are you looking to cam the car and go with the LS6 mani and make close to the same power as a FAST mainfold and spend an extra grand easily on it. The LS6 manifold can be had used for $300-350 shipped used... It depends on what you are looking for. Here's the question you have to ask yourself.
-Am I looking to get max effort out of the stock motor?
-Are you planning on doing a bigger motor later?
-Am I doing a massive head cam combo?
-What horsepower am I looking to see to make me happy for the price I want to pay to get it?(Are you going to spend $2500 or $1200 on a set of heads)

The ported FAST 92 is THE BEST MANIFOLD money can buy without going to a custom fabbed sheetmetal intake with a stock like appearance which is why it is revered. But are you will to spend $1400+ with throttlebody on that when you will make just shy of that with in 20whp possibly (if that) on the stock motor with a LS6 manifold?

Fast 78 got me a solid 2 mph over the ls1 intake.

Cost me just a little more than the ls6 would have.

Once I get the tune sorted out I'm sure it'll pick up more.

Let's assume you put on all the regular bolt ons on your LS1 first.

If you still have stock heads and stock cam you won't see much gain upgrading to the fast - in fact you might lose power at lower and middle RPMs.

Put in a decent sized cam and the fast will probably give you some good gains.
