painted or not?
does it make a difference if i get painted pacesetters lts or ceramic coated ones aside from looks? if the ceramic ones perform better thats one thing but i dont know if its worth another $100 just to make em look better when they barely show anyway....

are they stainless steel? if not, getting them ceramic coated will prevent them from rusting. as well as help bring down the under hood temps. the lt headers on my car (special custom lt headers to fit in my rx7) cost 800 bucks. so having them coated to prevent them from rusting and lowering underhood temps seem worth it to me.

Different coatings do different things. To reduce underhood temps you typically get a header thats coated inside and out. The stuff pacesetter uses is only for looks and to prevent rust.
The main problem with coated headers is the collector area. The coating doesn't seem to be able to get in between four pipes that are right up against each other. So coated or not, the rust always starts there. And from what I've seen posted here painted or coated can start rusting at the collector within two weeks.
JMO, where it starts rusting first is where it's going to fail.

If your not buying stainless then get ceramic coated. I dont reccomend any ceramic coated header if you plan on keeping the car for ever. Just do yourself the favor and get stainless.

It depends how quickly you want to buy a new set of headers. The non-coated ones are going to rust faster than the coated ones and thats where you will start to have failures.

Rust through is a header failure. Surface rust is not.
I currently own three vehicles with uncoated headers, two are LS1 camaros.
I've run uncoated headers for 20 years without ever seeing a header rusted through.
The only headers I've ever seen rusted through were in a junkyard sitting for who knows how long. Hell the CAR they were on had worse rust than the headers.
And FWIW I've owned one set of coated headers. Check out the pics, nice expensive big block headers, 2 years old at the time.

so basically painted will be just fine...especially if i plan on going bigger and better in a year or two or three? i dont care so much about looks, i just dont want it to hurt the car at all

it wont hurt the car but just get the coated....or skip this step and get your bigger s/s in the beginning and dont worry about it...i personally bought the coated pacesetters and are showing surface rust after 3 months being on the car...and its not a dd...but definately worth the extra bucks to get the coated

AND you're saying pay more for coated, they're going to rust just as well as the cheaper uncoated ones? How does that make sense.

If you don't get them coated you will be kicking yourself in the ***.
Go coated WELL worth the extra cash! If i would have had more money to spend at the time when i got mine, I would have LPP's.
