Default Covers over MSD wires?

Hey we put the new plugs and plug wires on my car when we put the headers on this weekend and I was wondering if you guys put the metal covers back on over the boots on the wires. I didn't put mine back on because I thought they would be pretty heat resistant, but I'm think that I should put them on after seeing how close they are to the headers and I'm afraid they will melt onto the headers. Just wondering if you guys with the MSD wires put the covers back on or not, thanks.

I did not put the covers back on. The MSD plug ends can be bent to clear everything just fine once they are plugged on. I have had no issues with them getting to hot or close to the headers.

Ok so they don't move too much once you bend them into place? I just noticed it after I drove it for the first time and one has up against the header and had melted a little so I had to wipe it off the header. If they stay in place, I have them all bent so that they aren't touching the headers now.

Anyone else want to throw out their opinion/experience? I'm debating on whether its worth putting them on tomorrow or not...

After seeing that you guys didn't put them on I decided to just bend them all so that they weren't touching and they were fine driving around today. Thanks for the help, I really didn't want to get in there and mess with #8 haha.

after about a year, one of my wires had been touching a primary and it didn't melt, but the rubber dried out and started to crack. when i got a new set, i put wire socks on all of them just to be safe.

The MSD is multi directional meaning you can bend the boot away from the header and it will retain the angle you bend it to.
