1/2 a second is pushing it but that car is making alot of power but if you run an electric h2o pump why run a belt (track only)

is that just a belt that bypasses the P/S pump completely?

Besides the weight loss, ditching the power steering gives back a good amount of power.

Here is a article quote from SAM Racings 99 camaro.

Power Steering Bypass
Massingill discovered the final part of the LS1 Camaro’s evolution by accident. While at a race, he spotted a similar Camaro whose owner, Tony Whatley, had sourced a shorter serpentine accessory drivebelt that bypassed the power steering pump. A Gates belt (PN K-060512) forgoes the driver-side idler pulley and lower alternator bolt. "The first time you do it, it’ll take 15 minutes to figure it out. After you get the hang of it, it takes less than 5 minutes (to install)." Power gain directed to the rear wheels cut a whopping three-tenths off the e.t., and the S.A.M. Camaro ran it’s best-ever 11.474 and 120.45 mph in the quarter without affecting off-road response. HR

Keep in mind this was 3 tenths off a car that was already in the 11's

u can also remove the A/C belt too, but these are Little gains, they are only worth couple tenths at Best.
