Default TB Porting

Anyone have any tips? My buddy is going to try and tackle this for me and he is really good with a Dremel. I just want to give him something so he can know what he's going in to since they are very touchy.

just don't touch the material that is actually forming the seal around the TB blade.

all the material that needs to be removed is IN FRONT of the blade. keep the blade closed and you should be fine

There is a guy that does them for less than 75 bucks on her and does a nice job. I dont think I would even fool with it any more. Just let him do it.

I got one of those Chinese die grinders for something
ridiculous like $13. Works fine, went on to port my
243 heads with it. 1/4"-shank B&D sanding drum kit
and replacements are well cheaper and last longer
than Dremel consumables.

Before you do anything, take a Sharpie and mark
the seating circle. Then after you remove all the
removable fittings and blade, put a couple of layers
of masking tape in the throat so you cover the
Sharpie-line. This is your "oops" padding, you can
scuff it a few times before you hit metal.

Truck TB castings are the same #, just different
PCV (swappable) and coolant (forget it) fittings.
So your donor pool is fairly large. The IAC, throttle
shaft, TPS etc. all interchange. I went this way,
ran the truck casting with Camaro bits, until I
went to the 85mm ProProducts lineup.

I had been trying to find a used one but no one has one for my '02. And the ones I did find, the people ported around the blade!!!

I'll have to make sure the masking tape gets used. I love being able to make mistakes and have it not be fatal. lol Thanks a lot guys!

Any other pointers?!
