Exclamation Lowered car and exhaust setup

Well my car is lowered with the eibach sportlines and now I'm planning on going with headers and change my exhaust system. Clearance seems to be the issue with this. Right now I have the SLP loudmouth and am going to sell that and a magnaflow exhaust will take its place to rid rasp. As of right now this is what I'm thinking about using:

-Mac Mid's
-Off-rd Y pipe
-Magnaflow Catback (replace current LM)

Future thoughts:
And then once I get this done and save up some more $$$ I wanna do heads, cam, and a few other things. Most likely a TR224 for the cam and upgrade heads woth better parts, a LS6 or LSX manifold and rid the whole EGR setup. Finally full dyno tune .

My car is not lowered and with long tubes and 2 cut-outs I have no ground clearance.I cant go over any train track or bump or anything basicly before a car show I take a drive in the truck to find the best way.Ive completely pulled the y pipe off the headers before. Wth that cam I would say mids might hurt the cam.I went with the TR230 though when I was asking about the TR224 they said the long tubes would help it a lot more.Just my 2 cents and a TTT for you Also

Mids are good for some setups, but with an intake and a cam like that I think LT's would be the way to go. Plus you'll not have to worry about replacing them again down the road. FLP's and TR's LT's seem to be well worth the money, neither show many issues with ground clearance, both have excellent fit and are high quality peices.

RJF, what kind of LT's do you have? What kind of exhaust are you running? And where did you place your cutouts? Odd that you have such issues w/o the car being lowered.

My car is lowered and I can get over most things, just have to side step on more then others. My setup is Pacesetter LT and ORYP plus the Magnaflow exhaust. I have no problems with it, to tell you the truth the nose of the car rubs more the y-pipe has. I would just go with another Y pipe or have one made to tuck alittle better. Hope this helps.

I also have the Eibach Sportlines on my T/A.It sets so low that i'm going to have to change my springs in order to have clearance for headers,i'm scraping on a lot of **** right now, there's no way i could do headers with my current suspension.I'm not sure what i'm going to do.

I have the Sportlines with FLP/LM exhaust. Right now im driving around with my cats on. I make it over speed bumps and steep inclines that are from the street into most places like gas station ect. You just need to take inclines at and angle while your tire face straight up the incline and you wont scrape at all. I was a little wary with going LT after having the Sportlines. Now im glad I did.

I chose FLP's because they have removable cats and tucked up the best from any headers that were out, and no other compaines offer removable cats. I say go for LT, have fun and just be a little careful when you drive around.

642642 - Thanks for the picture. I was actually thinking about the Pacesetter's.

02CamaroZ28 - I pretty much never rub anything on the car even with the sportlines, so I'm sure I'm more then careful . I've heard before that the FLP LT's will fit with my lowered car, and now that you say your not having a problem I might have to look into them again (even tho they are pricey ).

How do you like Pacesetter LT's? I can't say I've really heard to much about them, heck I don't even know the cost .

Kooks headers and a custom x-pipe is what I have. And I will put money that it has the best ground clearance of any exhaust including a stock car. It's all in who makes the x-pipe

I have Pacesetters on mine and they don't hang any lower than the transmission pan.

No clearance issues with the headers what-so-ever, but the custom catted y-pipe is a different issue.

If you are going to go with a custom y-pipe setup, I would strongly recommend that on the driver's side you see if you can use a flat exhaust pipe (much like the stock y-pipe) for added ground clearance.

I have no clearance problems with the headers as BigBlackZ28 stated. You can get them coated for 331, so I would say that is not a bad deal. I dont have any dyno numbers as of right now because Im waiting to get my cam install. I did feel a difference after they went in though.

Hey 642... How do you like the LT's, ORY, Magnaflow combo? You think a mild cam with that set-up might be a bit grating on a daily driver?

The combo sounds great to me, I do have alittle (I mean little) rasp at 2500rpm. As far as the cam, Im going with a 228/288 .588 112LSA. The car is my DD and I think Ill want to drive it a lot more once it goes in. Ill see what happen once everything is in and tuned.

Well as of right now I'm really looking into coated hookers or pacesetters since they will seem to fit under my car. I'll just have to get a custom Y-pipe for added clearance. I'm hoping not to spend more then $500 on the headers alone and I'm looking used.

My Mac's w/ORP work fine with my Eibachs springs and they make great power. I would look at Mac's, hooker, and maybe pacesetters.

Good comparision I did was with my friends car.
We both have 2001 SS's with the same cam TR224 but different headers.
I made 393rwhp and 376rwtq with Mac's and ORP
My friend made 391rwhp and 369rwtq with FLP's and ORP

I am selling my cam and headers in the classifeds.
