I would, as GM probably put them there for a reason. I have no reason to think any aftermarket wires have any more of an ability to resist heat's effects. Engine blocks get kinda warm as well all know.
Taylor are supposed to be some top of the line wires. I ran MSD 8.5's with absolutely no problems. Good wires, less expensive then Taylors. The stock wires are great to be honest, as long as they are in good condition. Really no reason to replace them. I replaced mine only because a few went bad(no idea how the previous owner treated the car).

i've got the taylor 10.4's as well. i don't think it's possible to install the heat shields over the boots on those, at least i couldn't. i haven't melted one yet.

i ran with MSDs and no heat shield for about 6 months and 7k miles, no problems. The #7 plug boot was actually resting on the header, still never melted.
Then i ran about 1k miles with the heat shields on, just for safe measure.
Dont really matter in my opinion, either way shouldnt be a problem.

keep breaking, even when pulling from the boot. dont know what im gonna replace it with yet.

I run Taylor 10.4 and use the heat shields on them. It is a pain in the *** to get them over the boot but I think it is worth it, b/c you can never be too careful. Do they need the heat shield? "Probably" not.

whats up guys, I used to run msd 8.5 super conducter's. I just bought taylor thunder volt 50s and a new set of TR6's. istaling the taylors i feel like the wiers are not cliking on the plugs. Do you have to push realy hard for them to slip on? i dont want to mess them. And can they be taken of the plugs / coils and put back on ?

70k miles still on stock wires, no heat shields, no problems yet, with Kooks 1 7/8. When I do get around to changing the wires I probably will put the heat shields on though. You can naver be too safe. Last time I checked IIRC the the heat shields are around $50. IMO, to me, they are worth it. Are they need, probably not.
