Default Alternate Smooth Bellows?

Just curious to see what you guys are using for your alternate source for the smooth bellow mod, or if its even worth the effort? I was at home depot today and saw a bunch of 3-4" diameter rubber couplers that may be used for this? Anyone have any more info on how to do this?

There are some inexpensive ones on ebay. I bought an SLP replica one for $18 shipped. Fit perfect on an SLP lid, no trimming or modifications necessary. Lowes and HD definitely have some alternatives. The only hardware you need is hose clamps if you don't already have them.

Can you tell me more about this slp replica? Now does the hose have to be at a specific angle or just straight,

Alternate to smooth bellows? GM bellows. I've tried smooth bellows and realistically, I didn't feel any difference and I didn't like the fact it is stiff as hell. I went back to stock bellow.

It is basically the exact same thing as the SLP Smooth Bellow. I just bought it from someone on ebay for cheap. As far as the hose goes, there is a slight bend from the MAF to the throttle body.

I brought the real SLP smooth bellow, no impressed at all. It doesn't fit a whisper lid to an FAST LSX intake. No matter how many mods I tried, it just wouldn't fit. The height of the engine was higher than the air box. Every time I revved it ripped the lid from the air box.

Ended up making something myself out of a couple of hoses from somewhere else.

Thats the problem with getting a straight hose I would think. There has to be enough flex in it to make that bend. I have seen a lot of people use those silicone hump hoses as a substitute.

It is not that much of a power gain so I really wouldn't spend a whole lot unless you have money to spend. I suppose it just goes in that "every little bit helps" category.

What about something like this that's 3 inch and has the hump in the middle for flexibility?

Its called fernco at home depot. And if your motor is twisting you lid off then you need motor mounts. the factory accordian tube is just hiding that fact.

So it doesnt need to have a curve or anything like that? I can just go to home depot and pick up a STRAIGHT 3"x3" piece of fernco?

Pull the TB spacer off and you'll be fine. They're not worth a **** on a non-carb engine.

Fernco's an appearance mod, not a power one, also.

what you should do is get rid of that TB spacer...its does NOTHING. i got the cheap fake slp smooth bellow from ebay for 25 shipped just because every lil bit helps and it does look great. it fits perfectly with my fast toys 85mm lid, 85mm maf, and my fast 90/90. it is ridged but i had it on stock mounts and it never riped off or cracked anything. now with the poly mounts no worries at all. everyone here should get poly mounts anyway cause it actually made my head and cam car MORE drivable.
