Wasn't there going to be an intake from Barry Grant? What happened with that?

It's on the website. It's a carb intake which is good for those that want it for a transplant in older cars, but I dont think it will be a big seller for the bolt-on crowd.

why would it not be a big seller?
sure the emisions stuff, but hell, look at most of the exhaust stuff ect out there that is not emmisions cert.

thats a pretty bold statement.

the 5.0 crowb been using stuff like that for a long time. i think its a blessing.

I would be interested in what kind of performance gain we might see with a Victor Jr. or a RPM Air Gap on an LS1.

A carbed LS1 probably wont come close to clearing the hood...Maybe a big cowl, but not a stocker. And probably not even a little 2 or 3 incher.

Does this seem like a step backwards to anyone besides me? I understand guys with older cars wanting to avoid the electronics, but harness kits are readily available, and it's gonna kill driveability & mileage.
Whatever...

It does to me.

I thought fuel injection was a part of Hot Rodding? At least thats the impression I am under from going to car shows.

I'll be dropping an LS1 into my 79 vette and doing a conversion seems like more work than dropping the engine as is. Just my thoughts.

That was my comment Steve. Fuel injection is much more practical by todays standards and the computer adjustments make a big difference over a carbed setup. I'm curious where all the power is supposedly gonna come from by adding a dominator? The current setups already flow more than most any setup can handle, and the newer intakes for fuel injection are gonna push it even further.

There is no ideal EFI intake setup available right now for the ls1 that makes huge flow #'s without crazy high dollar sheet metal intakes...

If you mainly want horsepower and to go drag racing this is going to be a GREAT idea.

Think about this. You can purchase a longblock LS1 for $1000 in good shape...and just bolt this intake on and its ready to go...pretty soon an ls1 swap in an old car will be no harder than bolting a standard SBC in them.

Id say if it makes 20-30 hp more than a ls6 intake on a heads cam car and doesnt cost to much, then you could still just put a throttle body type carb on the edelbrock intake and run fuel injection...

Yes. The intake port on a LS1/LS6 was designed to be dry flow/ direct injection. I am still curious as to what kind of power can be had from this intake. Edelbrock has long been my favorite caompany for replacement intakes and I wish that they had built one for the original design first then started looking at retro style setups, but I still interested.

It would be cool to use a plate system for nitrous with this intake.

Default cost

Anyone have an idea on what the cost of this set up will be? I search Summit and Jegs, but neither have it in their online catalog yet.

This will by far be the cheapest way to go all aluminum V8.

sounds cool, the little msd tcm sounds pretty nice...3 timing curves...

i wonder what the tuning will be like with one of these...

i see filters through the hoods of late model fbodies in the future!

i bet it will be rather pricey...with that msd tcm included...
