I have shorties and duals and I really like the setup. Sounds good and makes good power. I used the Flowmaster 1 chamber mufflers. With the shorties and duals I picked up I picked up over 25 rwhp. Now I just need to get more money for an intake and cam to see what kinda power I can put down.

Trojan T/A, what year is your car? what kind of shorties do you have? youre the only person i've heard of with good #'s from shorties. I was considering a set of BBK's, but now have decided to get a cam, so it looks like LT's for me. I just have always been curious about hp #'s with shorties, since everyone is so quick to dismiss them as total crap.

I have a 98 and I have the BBKs. My mods are BBK shorties, duals w/stock cats, and a lid. My numbers stock were 285/307 with mods 320/340. My car could use a tune as the A/F is 12.0 across the board just as most headered cars are before tuning.

not that im an expert but it sounds like most your gains are from the true dual and catback imo.

Partly true. The duals gave me 17, the shorties 10. But the shorties through off the tune so there should be more power there through tuning. The duals didnt affect the A/F ratio.

sounds nice man , i'd be interested to sound what it sounds like with a nice 112 or 114lsa cam. are the bbk collectors 3" then go into a 2.5" to the x-pipe and stock cats?. you have any pics of the setup?

Actually the collectors are 2.5 in. into stock cats, and off of stock cats 3in. duals. 3in may be overkill, but I am pleased with the sound and the gains. If I ever get the cats replaced, I will have the collectors ported out to 3in. and do 3in. all the way. As for the cam, I just dont know which one to get. I've been tempted to try a hotcam based on price but I dont know if its worth it since I will probably need to dyno tune it for an auto.

have you smogged with the dual setup yet? if so how did it do on visual. im thinking of going with true duals myself, 3" from the collector all the way back dumped before the axel. i found a good deal but i dont know how it would do on visual. i know the LT's are an issue but even with the LT's the traditional y/catback looks somewhat stock.

Do the BBK headers have a carb # yet. When they first came out, they didn't, but were apparently working on it. I too have been considering going with shorties due to the Cali smog *****, but would really like the 1 3/4" primaries of BBK. I'm just too lazy to deal with changing exhaust and/or having to find someone to pass me with longtubes .

The headers dont have a CARB # yet, but hopefully soon. I have to smog in june, so we will see if the headers are a problem then, but the x-pipe should not be as the system utilizes the stock cats in the stock location and is basically a catback out the rear of the car. If your exhaust dumps, then you might have a problem.

Tbyrne motorsports has the BBK's, so far they have the best price ive found. I talked to the tech there, and they told me i could expect about 18hp with the BBK's and the Random Tech y-pipe with the hi-flow cats. Tbyrne called Random Tech and according to them, the RT cats and y on an SS made 8hp and 9ft/lbs. with stock headers.
