What stock GM MAF is 85mm.?

Default What stock GM MAF is 85mm.?

Like the title states. Im looking to upgrade my stock MAF before getting it tuned and heard that the 85mm MAF came on a few vehicles from the factory and one of them being the z06 and I believe the other one being the 6.0 truck but what year trucks did they come in and what is the part number for the truck MAF if thats the 85mm? The z06 one is too expensive ($150) from the local junk yard. I would get a brand new 85mm MAF from slp but two local guys had them and did'nt like them. Thanks for the input guys!

YOU CAN'T just go buy a 85mm truck maf, The SLP ones are reprogramed.

You can but you have to:

Buy casper 3-5 pin harness adapter
Get a tune.

you still don't want it; it will make the car run FAT until tuned and it maxes out at like 430rwhp. The OEM unit is good much further past that point.

OK so what is needed for this swap to be done correctly, im getting confussed here. I ran a search and got like a million different opinions on what the best way is. So I should deff go with the factory one correct? Then get a 3 to 5 pin harness and get it retuned? I already had the car tuned but im guessing I would have to redo it then is this correct? And anyone got the harness part number?

I can't see why you need one, but in the event that you DO switch MAFs, you have to retune the car.

Save yourself a headache for the time being, and just buy the Fast Toys ported MAF ends. Big increase in flow without changing the size of your MAF.

you still have to make changes in the tune (or it will be lean with the ported MAF ends!)

The SLP one is ok. The thing is, there is an extra resistor running across the sensors in the opening, which will throw your fuel trims off so you'll have to cut it out and you'll be good to go. If you want to go that route, but there are better maf's out there.

So do you have a pic of this resistor? I've noticed that my idle sounds a little off with the slp maf. How hard is it to cut out?

No I don't have a pic, the guy who tunes my car told me about it. It took him about 10 seconds to cut it out. When you look into the opening of the maf, the resistor on the top is the one he cut out. I noticed on my car that it really messed my low end up, but after he cut it out it was back to normal.

Would you mind getting a pic at some time? I don't want to end up cutting off one I actually need. Did your idle and your off the line acceleration seem way off with it?

I have the SLP one and I never had any problems that people discuss on here such as running too lean, check engine light or the car doesn't run right. I installed mine, car has a stock tune and if anything it probably does lean it out a little but these cars run to rich from the factory anyways.. FYI my car made 335HP and 350TQ on a dynojet.. Stock SLP exhust, SLP Maff, and SLP CAI

z06/truck maf here and it works amazing, look at times for proof...got it off ebay brand new for 35 shipped
