Default NGK spark plugs

Ok I'm about tochange my spark plugs and was wondering what I should gap them at. I got a LS1 WS6 with a borla catback only, nothing else. Is the factory recommended gap at .050 ok or is there a better gap for completely stock engine?

i think stock gap is .060. i ran one set of tr-55s at .060 and the set in now is at .055. Runs fine either way.

GM revised the stock gap to 0.040".

When I looked into this, it appeared that the original spec from GM was 0.060. Which was revised to 0.040. The interesting thing is that it was revised when they switched to the iridium tipped plugs, there was a discussion on a forum somewhere that the reason for the new gap spec was that it was required for the iridium tipped plugs and not for the older copper electrode plugs. I think that I ended up gapping my plugs at 0.040 and meant to keep increasing the gap to 0.060 every couple weeks to see if there was a difference.....not that I ever got around to that LOL

Im not spraying for a little while, so i just pulled my TR6s, and put in some TR55s gapped to .50 and runs just fine.

The smaller gap means the coils are not stressed as much as the larger gap...

and 0.040 is still sufficiently well wide enough to get a sufficiently large spark.

Also take into consideration NGK only recommends to change the gap of their copper plugs by +/- .008, nothing more. So going from an NGK TR55 which comes gapped at .060 and changing it to .040 is not recommended.

thanks guys, i actually gapped the tr55's at .050 and is running quite well, but now 2 weeks later its got a slight missfire when at running temp at times. I dont know what could be causing this, i only feel it at iddle and when shifting gears, its weird
