Default GMMG Install ?

Was wondering if the GMMG chambered exhaust system can be installed at home w/o torching or welding or do I need to take it to a shop and have it done. If I could do it at home, do I need any special tools? Also, how much do you feel should I pay out for the install fee. Can't take a shop more than 1hr with lifts and tools. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

take it to a shop. the only catbacks you can install in your own without welding are the SLP LM and the TSP Rumbler.

We just done a good friends gmmg at home and used a band clamp to hold it together till he got it to a exhaust shop this morning. Would have cost him 300 to get it all done but all they had to do is weld one place and put the tips on and it only cost him 60!

You can do it as long as you have a sawzall or something to cut off the stock system.

Default gmmg

Have the gmmg on my car, and i did at home on jack stands. I did NO welding at all to my exhaust, all band clamps. This follows the pacesetter long tubes and tsp off road y-pipe.

My jack couldn't get the rear high enough for me to install my Gmmg.

if you put the car on jackstands and let the rear end drop then it is much easier.

You shouldn't need to weld anything. I put mine on in my garage with just jackstands and a jack. You will need to let the rear end hang.

When I had a GMMG I had it done at a local shop for $100.00. Frankly, I thought it looked like Cr@p with the so called "premium tips" Ended up selling it. IMO really an over rated and over priced cat-back...my .02 cents

But to each his own, enjoy and good luck!

i would agree too. i have the standard tips (which i don't really care for any tips on a camaro) and i think they look much better than the premium tips on a camaro. i wouldn't buy another gmmg, and quite i am selling the one i have. i am not saying it is crap or anything but it isn't worth the price in my opinion. it sounds good with cats but it is heavy and i don't think the power is as good as some of the other catbacks.

I picked up my GMMG used and the previous owner had it welded on and then cut off. I highly polished the system and I cut the stock cat-back off and placed them GMMG into place. After I had it clamped, I drove about 30 miles on it and had my old set of stainless tips welded on and the over-the-axel clamp was taken off and welded up. Turned out good in my opinion. I can't wait to install some headers and y-pipe this winter. You can definitely do it in your garage, especially if you buy it new or it hasn't been welded before. I would've loved it to not be welded for ease of uninstallation, but the fit and finish of this GMMG is second to none.
