Default msd super conductors.

ok so my 01 z28 didnt pass smog.. NO and HC were way high, so i figured maybe a tune up would help? it has 143.xxx miles on it, plug wires look original havnt took the plugs out yet though, what plugs should i run? ngk v powers? my car has pops or backfires when its cold and i take off for the first time. so hopefully this may take care of my issue.. any input would be greatly appreciated.

ok got the msds and ngk v power tr55s in. all of the plug wires on the passenger side came apart when i tried pulling the boot off of the plug, a couple on the driver side aswell, the plugs were whiteish with a hint of brown, not sure what that means.. i had alil race gas in there so the brown is probly that? the plugs didnt look too bad.. no black or nasty build up.do you think this might take care of my smog problem? gap is at .60

Yeah the A/C Delcos are pointy like that....What's you're diagnosis of the plugs? Was it lots of brown or do they fall under normal wear and tear?

also seafoam your car before you change the spark plugs- if you don't know what it is search should come up with a lot of threads.

Make sure you do this before you change the spark plugs. Also you can change out the fuel filter at the same time- its like 13 bucks or something and will help- change that out after seafoam as well.

You also may want to get your o2's read- if they are original they proabably need changed.

fuel filter was changed 100 miles ago, the plugs looked like they had ash lead deposit. which makes sense i had 5 gallons of 118 leaded in it.. however it failed smog horribly, my NO and HC were way high, like stated majority of the plug wires came apart when takeing out. il get a pic of the plugs.. but not bad IMO, still pops when cold when i hit the throttle or take off..

I would be checking your o2's. especially after running 118 leaded race gas thru it.

Why would you run that gas?

Leaded gas screws the 02's time to get some new ones, NOTE TO SELF dont run leaded gas in unleaded cars LOL. If I where to run race gas the max I'd put in was 110 unleaded.
