Any tips for Mac install?

take off the coil packs, plugs, vavle cover...it will go in...
drive side...
coil packs, plugs...i dont think you need to take off the vavle cover...
have a lil patience...not that big a deal...goodluck...

Yea man take your time, you can get them in from the top but it would be very simple to go from the bottom if you had all the neccessary equipment. Make sure you get all your bolts torqued to spec and double check everything. Good luck man

go to the dealership and get a new set of stock gaskits... the stock gaskets are the best for thouse headers. dont reuse your old ones, trust me its better to do it now than when you have every thing in for a week and you start to hear a ticking noise...
mine went in fine from below on the passengers side but if your trying to get in from the top on the drivers you eather have to pull the bolt out of the moter mount and jack up the block or take a sawzall and cut off the block machining nub... other than that my only tip is dont bother using the y pipe cross brace on the underbody of the car all it does is make a clunking noise agenst the mac y pipe.

Go in from the top?? are you serious? forget that. There is a small little block off of the side of the engine, less than an inch square cut it off on both sides and it will make it easier to get them in. and get a 10 mm gear wrench!!

yeah that block is the mount for when they machiene out the block once that is sawed off its farly simple. the 10mm gear wrench with the swivel head is a must. the biggest probablem i had with my install was the oil dip stick. it just would not come out i had to take some wire cutters and prie it out at the base.... went back in easy enought but was a pin inthe *** to take off...

You actually dont need to remove the plugs, I put mine in and took em out with my spark plugs still inplace.
As for the passenger side, All i removed was the plug wires,dipstick, and I already had the EGR off the car, so they came out easy from the top.
On the driver side, I took off the heat shield and plug wires and they went in and came out easy from the top.
Guess mine was different than the rest of em
and I used a bent-handle adjustable-head ratchet from Craftsman for all the bolts
Its the best hand tool you can have for an LS1, makes removing head, header, intake bolts and plugs a breeze

Mine went right in and came right out (when I took them off) from the top. Didn't have to grind away at anything. Just removed the coil packs and valve covers.
The stock stuff has to come out through the bottom.
I've never needed a swivel head 10mm gearwrench, but a 10mm gearwrench in general is a nice thing to have.
