Default FAST intake...Worth It?

I know most of you guys on here run the FAST 90 or 92 setups with matching TB's. My concern here is my LS6 intake. With my AFR's going on, they will be flowing 32 cfm over the LS6 heads, but the LS6 intake starts to choke off around 275 cfm; With the FAST its around 285 cfm. Do you guys think that it will be worth spending 1200 for a FAST 90mm setup or should I stick with my LS6 intake manifold?

If you do not get the FAST intake ported you will be disapointed in the small gain that you make after installing it...

It's worth it, especially if you have it ported.

When you say ported, is that an objective statement? Meaning, you take it to a guy and say "port this"? Or do you need to give him values to work with like the head specs?

And what are you porting? Just each hole that mates to the head?

Thanks for clearing that up.

I've never seen a well ported FAST 90/92 not gain over an out of the box FAST.

Call Tony Mamo @ AFR or Ron @ Vengeance Racing and ask about the difference between ported and non-ported FAST intakes ...

Pics show it is cleaning up the flash in the lower portion... top is untouched. Opened up to the head size maybe? TB opened up... other than that I don't see what else.

As I said call AFR and talk to Tony Mamo or Mike at Vengeance and ask how much they pick up after they port the intake...then you do one and then get it dynoed after you port it and see how you do compared to the pros that do it for a living ...there is more to it than what you think sir...

True. I'm going to port my own so who knows. I know I did view some pics of one ported by a well known and it wasn't exactly rocket science they performed.

Caleb, i already told you what i gained when i swapped mine didnt i?

i would do it.. you have the money so why not? even if its 15-20rwhp.. after you sell your intake its only going to be around 800 bucks..

your not going to see a ton difference in the low to mid range, but it will pick the top end a lot.. i picked up almost 6mph with my intake/heads through the 1/8..

BTW, if you are going to get rid of your intake let me know.. i would like to work out a deal with it.

The difference in RWHP between just 10 cfm increase is like 15 RWHP in the best or worlds. You'll probably get 10. Is that worth $1,200...thats the question.

If you didn't buy the AFR heads yet. How about doing a ported L92 head/L76 intake combo. Make alot more power than with the AFR/FAST combo. Ported, complete, ready to install L92's that flow 365 cfm cost only $1,500. Ported L76 intake ($700).

Just thinking.
