Default LS6 intake and TB questions

Ok i have also read the Sticky over and over again. I have also seen on here that some people have shaved the bottom of the intake and were able to keep the LS1 style coolant lines. Can someone validate this for me, i have searched and not found anything. Second question is that i got a Ported LS6 TB with the intake, there is an Air hose that comes off of the LS1 TB and there is no line on the LS6 TB for the air hose. Is the hose a manditory line? Also the TB has a bigger "wheel" to open the butterfly, will my stock throtle cables work with the bigger wheel? Any advice poeple can give me would be very helpful. TYIA

If you can get a picture up of the throttle body it might help. The throttle body should have one hose on the passenger side which connects to the valve cover. The other line should be for the coolant hose. You'll have a short one from the crossover and a long one going into the radiator which are on the bottom of the throttle body. They might have done away with them when it was ported, also know as the throttle body bypass mod. The one for the valvecover you need unless you are running a catch can setup.

Now as far as the intake goes; you can knock the "ribs" off the bottom of the intake with a hammer and a chisel( I did it this way). Be careful when you do it and don't get crazy with it. Some guys only knock off what needed but I took them all off. Then I tapped down the LS1 coolant lines until they were touching the valleycover.

Well they did away with all of them on the new TB. Looking at the stocker that i have it looks like all of those lines are pressure fitted to the TB. So would it be smarter to sell the ls6 ported TB and just have someone port my LS1 TB or do it myself.

you can use a drill and some grinding stones to remove the ribs on the bottom of the intake.don't grind into the floor of the intake.

Ok i got how to file down the bottom of the intake. The big question i have now is about the TB. The PCV line on the TB has been deleted, so does this mean i need to run a breather set up and if so how do i do that? If the PCV line is deleted on the TB do i run a catch can set up? Or in the end should i just get rid of the LS6 ported TB and keep my LS1 TB and port it?

Personally I would probably keep an LS1 TB and port it. Here is a link that will help you with grinding the fins on the manifold.

You can whack the ribs off with a hammer and a chisel. That's what I did and it works perfectly. The problem we're having is that we don't know what your "LS6 throttle body" is exactly. Is it from a Corvette? An 01-02 f-body with LS6 intake? If either of these, it's not plug and play with your 99 f-body.

You could PM Bo White about it - he's the TB expert on this forum.

Judging from his first post he has a 99 model Fbody and has got an LS6 intake and TB with a "larger wheel" on it. The 2000 and up TBs had a "larger wheel" so you will have to use your original TB or you can take that TB apart and swap your throttle shaft over to the ported one. The LS6 Corvette(as all Corvettes are) TB is not cable driven.

hammer and a flat headed screw driver worked for me, and the throttle cable should be plenty long

Nice! Yea I was a little nervous taking a hammer to my brand new intake, but it was a piece of cake

You might want to try a vette forum or even ebay to get rid of that throttle body.

Well just finished porting my LS1 stock TB last night with a dremail. Came out very nice, used a Carbon tipped angled cutting tip and went at it. Then used a steel brush tip to buff out imperfections and just need to sand it a coulpe times with light grit paper then polish it up. Turned out very nice though. Other then getting a small piece of metal in my eye that took 2 hours to get out.
