Magnaflow 15684
1. Well, I have narrowed down the exhaust to a Magnaflow 15684:
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=all&id=109
2. Should the Y pipe itself coming off the rear of the CATS to the mid-pipe be replaced as well?
3. Still need recommendations for the headers. I will for now be keeping the existing OEM cats.
4. I'm now unclear as to the 2001 Camaro SS Intake. I have gotten mixed info. What is the OEM intake. is it LS1 or LS6?
Thanks all

go to byunspeed.com they have that catback for like 445? instead of 610 with free shipping so great place thats where i got mine, and i think right now it is too quiet with just the catback and i want some more power so im def going to get some longtubes and a cutout for my camaro ill prob go with american racing headers. i've heard nothing but good things about them.

So far. I'm looking at BBK 40030 Headers. I've said it before, I'm new to working on cars. but like everything else, I get in there and get my hands dirty.
-but-
the only thing I know about long vs. short tube is that they have about 25% better flow on the long tubes.
-Is there a difference in clearance?
-Do I have to cut anything back or are they manufactured with some off set to make them long tube but meet the CAT at the same location it would normally be?

Great. No need to waste 175 on the intake then.
Yeah, the BBK 40030's are short and flange right to the OEM CATS.
So last question is there any reason to replace the Y pipe from the CATS to the Mid pipe of the new Magnaflow? I would figure of course for better airflow ...

Well, I know almost all mufflers arent the true source of a healthy sounding exhaust. I've learned a nice muffler set up is only brought to life by some nice headers. BUT ... you said as quoted as being quiet ... how quiet are we talking? ... I'm looking fr something with a rumble even pre-headers

still ave to rebuild the rear .. I will be upping the diff as the next project ... but again .. not going with 3.93 or 4.11 .. more like 3.73 at most.
thinking about it ... my next project might be upgrading the throttle body *shrug* .. i am sure after i do the headers and exhaust I will throw a post up for ideas as to the next item to up grade ... asking for ideas...
