Default Will GM Competition valve covers work?

I should know this but i'm to lazy to walk out in the garage and look under the hood. are the 02 LS1 engine perimeter bolt or center bolt valve covers?

I really want these valve covers since i have to buy spacers now for my harland sharp roller rockers i might as well buy the valve covers i want...... are these taller than stock since that is my problem now?

I am planning on getting the same covers. Might want to compare Jegs total price shipped to one of our sponsors total price shipped (i.e. SpeedInc and SDPC).

If you are talking about these valve covers you will have to do a couple of things to make them work right....I have been running them for about 3 1/2 years now and get lots of compliments on them.

PS 97 and 98 on Vettes and 98 on F body cars were the only years that had perimeter bolt valve covers ... all the rest were center bolt design...I paid $102 for mine.

SCHWING! those are the covers. i'll head up Speed inc first.

Only problem is left, are they taller than stock, cuz i need them to fit over my Harland sharp rockers.

They are a little taller than stock. You will have to run a LS6 valley cover and PCV system or rig up some kind of catch can rig....because I run a breather in the oil fill hole I have welded a piece of flat aluminum stock across the oil fill hole to deflect the oil that the rockers squirt off of my breather...other wise the breather will be soaked with oil in a very short time...you just have to pour your oil in a little slower at oil changes. I guess I have about 3 1/2 years and 100,000 + miles on this set up and have had no problems with oil consumption or oil in the intake .... about once a month I clean the breather with brake clean and blow dry it with compressed air.

so really we would just need to use a catch can or weld a piece inside to stop the oil from clogging the breather? Think i will just get a catch can, never cared for the breathers. love the valve covers too!

No matter which one you choose you will have to have a way of releiving the pressure that builds up inside the engine....a LS6 valley cover venting to a catch can will work too.

SD shows the 398 cover at $110.00 ea.
Jegs is $119.00 ea.
Don't know what the frt difference, if any might be.
