Meziere electric waterpump, a few questions.
My new Meziere EWP came with a thermostat installed, do I need to still drill 2 holes in it, and also I'm going to wire mine up with a relay so which fuel pump wire did you tap into trigger the relay to power the EWP?
Thanks!
Thanks!

that's funny....i followed the instructions on LS1howto and they had me tapping into the ignition system.
i double and triple checked it...they directed you to the wrong wire. not that its a big deal...allows me to use my fan switch and ignition ON to really cool the car down.
interesting that Mez told you the bypass holes are not needed. they specifically say you ARE supposed to drill them in the instructions. strange.
i drilled them in a 160 stat (cooler than what comes with it)...and my temps still hover around 172-175 in the florida heat.

The guy I talked to said I didn't need to drill the thermostat because it has a bypass.
The directions from Meziere also says nothing about drilling any holes. Is there a bypass possibly built into the pump assembly itself?
I just checked the thermostat in the pump today, and it has NO bypass holes.
No problem, I'll just drill them this next Saturday when I install it.

that must be something new.....i had a paper that specifically told me to drill.
makes sense though...simple upgrade.
oh yeah if you search for it, i put a thread up last year with some tips/tricks for the install.

I ran my wire to the Traction Control fuse in the fuse box. I don't have Traction Control but the fuse is still hot. The pump runs whever the key is on which is nice if you are trying to cool down the motor (just turn the heat on inside the car) and is also very convenient if swapping a cam to refill the cooling system.

Okay, got her done today! I went and connected my water-pump relay turn-on wire to the gray wire coming out of the fuel pump relay (goes to the fuel pump). And I didn't drill any holes in the thermostat, the temperature looks to be about 185* with the 180 stat, also I flipped the upper hose around for more clearance from the pump.
Thanks for the help!

Does anybody know if the Meziere EWP mounts the belt tensioner in a different position than the stock pump? Because I now have my Katech tensioner maxed-out to get the tension up to 35ft.lb. Or has my Gates belt managed to stretch over 2" in less than 2 months and 2k miles?
Also today I installed a Goodyear Gatorback drive belt that's 1" shorter then the gates 78" belt that's to long. Oddly enough the 77" Goodyear belt is to short!
Anybody have a similar problem that they solved?
