Default FLP long tube

We are thinking about installing FLP long tube headers on a 2000 Camaro SS.
If anyone has any comments about fit, reliability and HP increase I would like to hear from you.
Thanks

I have the FLP headers and really like the fit, finish and HP increase. The main reason I got them over the other headers out there was the ability to swap cats/off-road pipe. Only takes a few minutes to swap out a side. Once you factor in the cost of making other headers systems do this task the price of the FLPs are pretty good.

Also, I think they are still having a sale so give Mitch at FLP a call.

I just installed these, I can't say enough about the quality and fitment. All of this stuff about grinding blocks and loosening the steering linkage is not needed with the FLPs, they slid in like butter. I did have to cut about 3" off of my SLP I-Pipe, but that was it.

So you guys aren't having any driveability issues? Like having to grind the K-member, banging of the y-pipe, etc. FLPs are definitely a top choice for me, when I consider getting new headers. Thanks for any info.

Driveabilty issues? Yes, hard to keep my foot out of the GO pedal. Headers are great and no issues, grinding or banging. If you get these headers you'll love them.

Tom
Thanks for the input
Did your installation require and other parts such as o2 extensions, new header gaskets.
Thanks again

I actually had FLP install them (headers and installation cost me $1300 during a special they where running). I supplied new GM exhaust gaskets, AIR gaskets, AIR restrictor plates and EGR gasket. FLP supplied everything else. Check with Mitch at FLP to see what you will need (like O2 sims and O2 extensions).

So has FLP tweaked their design to fix the previous fit problems?

Lots of folks had to use the semi-ghetto "wrap a piece of heater hose around the exhaust pipe" fix to keep the y-pipe from banging when these headers first came out.

My Y-pipe does not hit the underside of the car at all. Again alot has to do with installtion and hooking everything up first before you tighten down the bolts and clamps. The only issue I have is the oil drain plug but this is very minor. I did not shave the drain plug so all I have to do is press ever so slightly where the collector mates with the cat/off-rode pipe and the plug is out.

No banging, scraping, and the finish still looks good after a year being on the car. And the ability to swap cats/off-rode pipes in a few minutes is a great plus.

TTopJohn,
Good luck to LSU in the Sugar Bowl.
