I am in the market for a UD pulley. How much extra for an OD alternator pulley, too?? I do have a 6.0 truck motor & accessories if it makes a difference...no A/C (yet).

I use and recommend Fluidampr underdrive for the f-body. It's 10%, not 25%, but it's also aluminum and weighs a bit more than 3 pounds LESS than a stock pulley. And that's rotating mass you are dumping, just like if you put a lighter flywheel in, or run a lighter driveshaft. Less weight to turn.

And aside from slighly underdriving the accessories, and losing rotational mass... I find them to be smoother than the others due to the fluid encased steel ring which is effective at all RPM's and not certain tuned ranges like elastomer pulleys. And there is no elastomer to wear out either.

Yes it costs more @ just over $360... but it's one of the best mods I made. Car idles, revs smoother, and faster too. Did not dyno it, but the difference was as noticeable as my aluminum flywheel.

LOL No you dont need a alt pulley! Had one for 3 years and never below 13-14volts at idle on same battery. I have install a ton of UD pulleys and never had any problems at all! Even a few cars with amps and subs.

How could it not free up hp?
it is like running an elec fan to a belt driven fan.
It takes hp to run accessories.if you don't have the drag on the motor as much it doesn't require the same amount of hp to spin them.

The Summit does not look like the Powerbond at all, that one has a screw on front plate and the Powerbond uses a snap ring. The powerbond is now black with timing marks as well (much better looking than it used to be, IMO.)
