SLP Long tubes...Yes or No?
I'm on the market for some long tubes that will definately give me a noticeable difference in performance. I've got a couple of different routes to choose from, but the LS1 SLP long tubes look and sound like a dream come true. Anyone have any comments on their statement of 41 rwhp. I already know about QTP, Kooks, and hooker. I just need some hard info about these SLP headers. Thanks guys.
Also...any suggestions on a nice cat-back that won't deafen me after 3 weeks of use, but still give a powerful, noticeable sound?

Quality wise, SLP's are great.
Performance wise, they are outperformed by the others you listed. Look into the others.
Look into a Hooker or Magnaflow catback. Or if you want to go the SLP route, try the dual/dual or the 2 Out The Left.

I see 26 rwhp from SLP`s on stock LS1 all the time (average for any of the headers you listed). Fit and finish they are the best. Magna flow with headers sounds great.

Yeah, but it seems that the SLPs get outperformed once one passes the 400rwhp threshold.
On a near stock application, they should hold their own compared to the others.

Look at the Hooker LT's they are great headers and moderatley priced, I think 629 for coated ones, not including the Y, I have seen great power out of Hooker Lt's and they fit very well. Good Luck

out of your listed it should go like:
kooks/qtp: both are great and you absolutely cant go wrong
hooker/jethot: great mid price header with jet hot coating.
pacesetters: not header for the budget minded.
slp: uh, top notch marketing
you can hear my jethot magnaflow combo in sig. its pre-cam.

Another vote for FLPs.
All he headers mentioned are top notch, it depends on what you want. Swap cats with off-rode pipes. Put them on and not worry about cleaning them (why you would want to go with the stainless steel QTPs or Kooks) as all coated headers will need some maintenance to keep their shine. Ground clearance if you lower your car.
SLP's hang low and all the others out perform them the more you mod the engine (as stated above by others). Reason why I did not go with them.

Slp headers on a 99 z28 have me 25rwhp and 28rwtq. The collectors were 1 1/2 inches closer to the ground. Some people have had problems with the coating but slp is good about replacing them just not the easiest to get them out and in.

header choices
You can buy a bunch of them for either a lot of $$$$ or a little...how long u gonna keep the car?? If your gonna have it for just a couple of years get uncoated pacesetter LT's. They were on sale for like $250. (i think it was TSP) Paint them with hi temp paint and rock on..They are a direct copy of the hooker LT's..Got a couple of friends in my car club running them...I helped put on a set.. no problem with the install or with them hangin low..good ground clearance..good buy for the $$$ spent...most of these headers make similar horse power...but some are priced crazy...if u must have them coated just add about $125 bucks

Dont get the SLP's. I got a set from a buddy for cheap and quickly resold them for what I had in them because just from lookin at them, I could tell they sucked. Get the coated pacesetters and dont look back. You will be glad you did.

The coating on my SLP's only lasted about 1-year (3,000 miles). If i keep them on the car I will problably end up wearing holes in the collecters. There also a major pain to install.
Thats why I ordered some KOOK's headers.
