Let the resurrection begin. I am going to try Lucas Oil next round after hearing Mobil 1 went down a tier again. Ohh and Wix and Mobil1 filters are the same, same housing same filtering. Just different company, so a wix filter and lucas for me. I am interested in the Castrol 0w-30, how is it over 4k miles? that's a fair amount of additives to allow the oil to stretch that amount, not bashing just curious. That might go in next round instead of lucas.

Lucas oil isn't anything special. Wix and Mobil1 filters are not the same. Wix are made by Wix and Mobil1 / K&N filters are made by Champion Labs.

The German Castrol 0w30 is great. I've been running it for 2 years now with good results. Last year I ran it for 5,000 and my oil analysis came back awesome. I've seen other people run it 10-11K miles without issues.

If I had to buy an off-the-shelf filter, I'd reach for a Royal Purple, Mobil 1 or K&N.

However, I keep at least two Fleetguard Cummins on the shelf so I always have the best filter made at my fingertips.

Lol.... Castrol GTX 5w-30 w/ AC Delco PF46. Sometimes use 10w-30 for middle of Texas summer when it never gets below 80*F.

216,000 miles now and not burning any oil whatsoever.

Interesting since Wix filters and Mobil1 filter along with K&N use the same filters and design, filtration from Wix is the same as Mobil1. I am thinking about the Castrol 0W30.

Ive used Mobil 1, Valvoline SynPower, Penzoil Platnium, Royal Purple, Penzoil High Mileage, Penzoil Ultra, and the Valvoline Racing Oil (VR-1 I think its called?).

Out of all of the oils, I was most impressed with the results of Penzoil Ultra and Mobil 1.

I currently run 5w-40 Penzoil Ultra with a Mobil 1 Filter. I've looked at alot of oil analysis from other people runnning Ultra and it seems to be a superb oil with the only thing I do not particularly like is the high amounts of boron.

To each his own with the oil and filter choices, but after being the manager of a Jiffy Lube for 2 plus years (dont judge me haha), I see the vehicles that have lasted the longest are the ones that follow the 3000 mile conventional or around 6000 mile synthetic rule (not to say you cant go farther/shorter, just stating my observation). We have about 5 vehicles (all Chevys ) that are all over 300000.

Very good report, thank you.

Among the top tier oils & filters, there's not much difference and you can't go wrong with any of them. Just staying away from the cheep stuff and often oil & filter changes will keep any engine happy. If I couldn't get German Castrol, Mobil 1 would be my next choice.

Where are you guys getting the German Castrol from? Only place I can find it is Autozone and they want $8 a quart. Do they ever run oil specials like Advance Auto? I've been using Mobil 1 full syn because it's like $22 for 5 quarts at Walmart.

Ran Mobil1 0-40 with a Wix filter for years and liked it; fairly stable pressure. Tried Eneos 5-30 with a Wix, but didn't really like it. Seemed to thin out fast when it got hot and would have pressure drop on really hot days or 30+ minute drives. I am now running Castrol Edge 5-30 with a Wix and my pressure seems to be more stable with very little pressure drop on hot days or long drives. Not sure if I'll stick with this or go back to Mobil1 0-40 on my next oil change.

I personally have been using Mobil 1 5W30 synthetic and a wix filter. What is the german Castrol and how does it compare to Mobil 1?

It's just Castrol GTX 0w-30, full syn, says European Formula on the bottle. Supposed to be on the best performing oils available.

Went from GC to Pennzoil Platinum (GC is getting increasingly hard to find; as in impossible around here) and PureOne filters.

Having a good oil filter and doing regular changes is more important than the oil used, and good oil filters are $3-4 more than the shitty generic ones; why skimp?
