Have you heard its HARDER to tune after a descreened MAF?
Thats because the air isn't flowing straight and orderly, its doing all sorts of ****.
I don't want to turn this into a MAF discussion either, but whenever you get the chance, check out some videos where they have a fan blowing smoke with and without a screen in front.
Surprise surprise, the screen test blows the smoke faster and farther away.

When I tested filters long ago, Fram was not one of the
better ones (Blackwing best, Purolator next among the
paper ones I had on hand).
Now all of them presented trivial pressure drops when
compared to the stock lid and screened MAF.

I just switched from k&n to wix this weekend. The wix is so tight it def seals the airbox better but can't hardly get the lid shut its so tight. Using an Slp lid. Anyone else have this issue?

The K&N oiled filters may flow a bit more in an airflow test but they often foul the MAF with oil mist. Not worth it due to the indiscernible performance advantage they have over a standard paper filter-and certainly not worth they're cost.

^^^^well, at $10-15 for a quality Wix filter vs $50 k+n and the fact that's its reusable its most definitely worth it! Plus I don't have to drive anywhere to get a replacement.

Same thing here. I got a 98 z28 stone stock recently and have been testing mods one at a time at the track. Every time I have pulled the filter hoping to squeeze a little more out and absolutely nothing every time. I think it's a Fram and not new either. Adding a slp lid did nothing either (maybe .02 et at best) which was surprising to me. I swapped it at the track and went from a 13.11 to a 13.09 back to a 13.12 with no mph gain. Free mods with home ported throttle body were worth .3 and 2.5 mph along with ftra which was worth .1 1mph. This was on a stock a4 with drag radial car so I'm sure a lid and filter could add more if the power levels were higher
