Default BBK SSI intake

I've heard that this intake is better than the stock LS6 intake, and also that it is comparable to the Fast for the truck. Has anyone used this intake or had any experiences with it?

TIA,

Brandon

I think most dyno's show that it is slighty better then the ls6, not nearly as good as the fast.

Ive seen good response with them, not on a truck but on 2 different t/a's.

One put down 400 through an auto, cam only, full exhaust.

Other put down 450 heads and cam 6 speed, 4.10s and put down 620 hp and 752tq on a 150 shot.

They work really well regardless of what other people say.

no one is saying the aluminum is better. Its just not as bad as people who have no clue make it out to be. If the aluminum intake makes more power than the cheap plastic alternative (ls6) when used they are around the same price then why the hell not.

^^^one question.....what is the perpose of a 160 degree stat?.......im not tryin to be a smartass or anything, i agree with you that they have a worse reputation than they actually are, they are good intakes but i was told by a proffessional, (which i will leave out who) that yes the metal intake makes more power cold, but after it gets hot it will make close, if not less power than the ls6 intake....not that there is a huge weight difference but if you could shave 10 pounds off of every part on your car how much would it weigh?.....again not huge differences but ask yourself how your car runs on a 45 degree night vs. a hot humid 100 degree day.....if that intake heats up air just 10 degrees thats a marked power decrease.....i mean its personal prefference and again im not slamming these intakes bbk is a good product but i have to agree that the ls6 is the way to go. ls1<bbk<ls6<fast IMHO

for a daily driven car or fun street car, stick with a LS6 or FAST intake. why add something that is prone to heat soak? Just because it looks cool doesn't make it better.

Here we go with this NOOB *** "heak soak" bullshit.

Like ive said before and probably have to say again, next time you drive your car for a while AFTER it gets to operating temperature, pop the hood and see how long you can hold your hand on your plastic intake.

Dont bother PM'ing me the results as ive already tried it.

Aren't all the carburated intakes aluminum? Is heat soak one of the problems with that setup?

People act like plastic cannot get hot too, like physics does not apply to plastic.

It is funny everyone always hates on the BBK because of "heat soak" and it being "heavy", but no one ever rags on the METAL single plane style intakes with METAL elbows.

This being said, if I were to go from an ls1 intake and didnt have much money, id def. do a BBK intake. If I already had an ls6 intake Id just stay with it as I would not feel it would be worth the time/money to swap.
