simple exhaust questions...
okay so I've got a set of Hooker LT's that I plan on installing. I just ordered 2 Dynomax Bullets to run straight off the headers. They are 3" diameter in/out. My first question is: can i just clamp these onto my LT collectors, and if so how do I do that? do I just use like a band clamp and clamp them together? or do I fit the bullets over the collectors and clamp them that way?
I haven't messed with exhaust systems much so i'm not sure how it works. should I have went with like a 3.5" in/out to fit them over the collectors and then clamped them down that way?

V-band? really? i wouldn't think those would work without some sort of flange or flaring.
No, this is my DD. I originally wanted to run open headers but after reading about how it tears up O2's i wasn't going to put a ORY on it....but then decided bullets would be cheaper, have the same effect and I figured they'd be a little quieter than the ORY. I'm not worried about how loud it is though. I'm rolling with the stock exhaust cut off after the Y right now and it doesn't bother me in the least.

yeah v-band are worth it.
also you are asking for a ticket and there is no way in hell you will get your car inspected. true duals dumped is your best bet.

well i'm on a tight budget and trying to spend as little as possible. and I don't have to worry about any inspections. and what's the difference between the set-up i have planned and TD's, is it the length of pipe, the added x-pipe?

i had considered that. but i don't even have $400 to spend right now. I plan on a moser 12-bolt and stall still as well so most of my money is going into that.

I run the 3'' bullets attached to the off road x pipe with turndowns. I cut four 1.5" slits in the stub end of the muffler so that when i slid it over my x pipe it would allow the muffler to clamp down on the x pipe. I used good band clamps and an impact to tighten up the nuts. It will rattle your brain at about 2000rpm, and I love it. There is no sneaking in after the late night "car show", wakes the wife up every time LOL..

if i've learned anything about modding it's that doing it the cheap easy way usually costs more money in the long run. just sayin. do it right the first time and do it once.
