No acceleration even with pedal floored
Ok, so over the last couple days my car's performance has gone from great to barely 10mph in 1st gear. I believe I've identified the problematic part to the object in the attached pic, but what exactly is it?
I believe this is the root cause because it now has limited movement; it looks to move just a bit and then won't budge. I know it's linked to the throttle and if I manually open the throttle at the TB it revs like a beauty, but it's as if something's locked up within and prevents the accelerator pedel from opening the TB enough.

alright, that helps. also from what I can find it also has some function with the cruise control. Anyone happen to know the exact name for the part or better yet, a part number? Sadly my haynes doesn't even appear to mention TC. ::sigh::

Yes, though I'm curious what lead you to ask this considering I pointed out that opening the throttle right at the TB appears to be fine. If it were a matter of a clogged cat, I wouldn't expect different results in the two situations.

well your traction control runs seperate from your throttle and you said that you have no binding in the throttle body/cable so i was going to suggest that you may have a clogged cat(s),i have worked on cars that have had a clogged catalytic converter and would not let the vehicle accelerate over 20 mph, until i disconnected the downpipe(s) to veryify the complaint.

It sounds like you have this narrowed down.
Confirm that when you push the gas, the blade barely opens. If this is not the case, and the blade opens all the way, than you have another problem. Is the throttle harder to push?
It seems to me that you would either have all or nothing since this is a cable drive. Did you try turninng the TCS off, and accelerating? Perhaps you have a faulty sensor, and it is autmatically killing your throttle because it thinks you are breaking traction.

deelong4002 - Yes, I did confirm that the butterfly was barely budging with the pedal being pushed to the floor. The throttle cable at the TB provides the normal resistance, however, at the point of interest the wheel that the cable is attached to would barely move.
By providing a little more pressure by hand to rotate this wheel, it finally budged and now moves freely. Pressing the accelerator bring with it the roar it should. Perhaps this is a temporary resolution, but I quickly drove around town without the slightest degradation in performance. So, more information on that unit would be appreciated. I'll be searching on my own in the meantime as time permits.

I know on my TA last year, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get 100% WOT.. It turned out the cable was slipping.. in the middle of the cable there is a square looking piece that is the cable adjustment. The top piece had popped off so the cable was just sliding instead of pulling the TB blade up.. Just a thought, thats what I was getting at.

LOL @ the people in this thread that fail reading comprehension.
He said the throttle cable isn't opening the TB, and the traction control unit is stopping the cable.
I know everyone's trying to help, but let's worry about the cats after the cable moves the TB, mmmkay ?
...but yeah, if the TB blade is opening all the way (which is isn't per OP's posts) other causes of symptoms OP describes can be a very clogged air filter, very clogged fuel filter, or clogged cats.
OP - junkyard or preferably GM parts counter for a new traction control unit. It's possible someone may be selling one from a parted-out car in the classifieds here as well.
