What is this hose? Please help!
What is this hose? Please help! Hello,
Could someone please tell me what the hose/silver cylinder in the attached picture is (next to the guy's right arm)?
I just bought an ls1 camaro this weekend and was detailing the engine when I noticed the right end of the silver cylinder was duct taped off and not connected to anything. Only the end going to the firewall was connected. Car seems to run alright without it connected. What is this hose and does it need to be connected? Is there any reason for why someone would disconnect this? Sorry if this is a newbie question.

The expansion takes place in the line before the evaporator when the freon goes through the oriface tube. This turns the freon from a high pressure/high temperature liquid to a low pressure/low temperature gas. The Drier/accumator is after the evaporator and removes moisture and also holds oil for the system.

That's the AC receiver/drier canister.
Oh and uh, it's not freon anymore... That stuff died out long ago.. R134a now....... or refrigerant. =p
There's an inlet and an outlet. One end to the condenser and and the other end goes to the evaporator.
