+192903 on K&N filters fitting like crap. I replaced mine with a paper filter because the K&N would not seal properly and it would let crap get through. I found leafs and other crap on the maf screen

Dude it a drop in air filter. I;m pretty sure just about an idiot could install one. Yes the tray is there and yes everything else is in order. It just fits like ****. I did fix it with some silicon but before that I was finding leafs and bugs and **** on the MAF screen. This was with a SLP lid but read the thread I am by far not the only one that seen shitty fitment.

i have an SLP lid and had K & N filter, and just switched to a fram paper filter and dont notice any difference at all. it was too much work to try and clean the K&N filter, so i just bought a fram. no issues at all.

has anyone ever done back to back dyno runs with a brand new k&n filter and a brand new paper filter?

I have. back to back to back to back. Total 4 runs, 2 with each. K&N net was 1 hp lower than paper.

A talk with a former professor of mine (and ford engineer) said that from their tests, paper out performed k&n style filters.

With that said, I run paper.

This is true. non oiled vs oiled the oiled filter will filter better... common sense. As far as performance gain there is none. I like the k&n and have never had a fitment issue with it, filters great and is reusable

I swear this topic is like beating a dead horse, some people like K&N some dont, NOBODY is saying that they add a million HP. Its just like exhaust comes down to personal preference.

i did a write up in general maintenance, there is no way for leaves and anything like that to get by the filter. you definatley didnt install it right.

I didnt have the seal needed for my K&N and plus I kept having issues with my maf getting dirty and causing ses lights, so I replaced it with the fram paper filter. It fit and sealed perfect and no power loss and no maf issues. Kind of a no brainer
