A simple muffler swap is not gonna do it. Your best option is to do the powerflo conversion

I would say a whole new exhaust system like magnaflow or hooker. A Borla XR1 will prob still be too loud for what you're looking for. Like Detoxx said, you could do a powerflow but it's pricey for what it is. Just stay away from the LM2.

Try searching about a 18 inch or longer chambered resonator to run between the whole y-pipe to axle section, it will be a lot quieter and most likely save you a hundred bucks over selling and replacing the LM1.

Carsound high flow cats would also help a little and only cost around 5hp.

I have the slp longtubes and lm2. Liked it at first but it is way to loud and attracts unwanted attention. Just ordered a hooker catback.

where in Illinois are you?

I might want it or trade you some True duals (over axle). Only reason to get rid of them, is because I want to slam my Trans Am.

Yeah it's cool for around town, but after 6 hrs in the car it gets annoying. Especially when you can't really HEAR your stereo until it's 70% of the way up. Then you keep chewing thru speakers because they start crackling after a year. I like to think I've got a good tolerance for a loud exhaust, well at least I DID. I like it loud, but not ALL THE TIME. 2.5 hrs to go up near Boston for the damn dyno day and the ride back gave me a POUNDING headache! Wait till you put a cam in the mix with the LT's and ORY. It gets even louder, still.

The Hooker sounds real tame. Has a nice tone to it, and a slight bit of crackle/rasp you can tell hasn't made it's way thru the muffler. Check Youtube, I've got a couple vids on there of my buddy's car that I'm technically not suppose to advertise. (Google ad-sense terms)
