Just found the thread Kurt, good find on the lift! You're going to have to let me hear this thing if you bring it back up to Roanoke.

Man, I still haven't even got the lift up yet. I started noticing a new noise too, sounds either like pilot bearing or bottom end... Either way, drivetrain's gotta come out soon so I can investigate the noise, and fix my hydraulic issues. If I don't find anything then I'll be on the lookout for an LQ9. If anyone knows of a deal then let me know.

I plan on exhausting when I get it back on the road... and since i've been driving the bike everyday then I'm sure I'll be trying to get this thing back together quick.

I'll keep everyone posted.

...longest uneventful true dual thread ever, lol. Look at all the views! Sorry everyone. Would it help if I took a few pictures of all the parts again?

Still nothing yet. I haven't found any time to get on the lift project, and once I do I've got to figure out what's making the rattling noise from the bottom end/trans area. I haven't driven the car but a few miles in the last few months since I discoverd motorcycles, lol.

I can't wait to hear what my car will sound like with the duals...

Little update: I've got a break until the first part of Jan, and I finished installing the torque arm and I flipped the fuel lines. Those two things should have helped create some space under there.

FWIW, flipping the fuel lines was pretty easy. You'll need a 10mm socket and a flat point screw driver. It didn't take too much convincing to make the fuel/brake lines relocate to their higher position.

I think I'm gonna drop the tranny, inspect several things, maybe replace the slave/pilot bearing, and then get on the exhaust... or maybe I'll just say screw it and start working on the exhaust. I haven't got the lift up yet, but either way it's been way too long and all the exhaust stuff laying around my garage is in the way.

Stay tuned.

Well, I got the car up in the air today (on jackstands - still no lift) and i'm worried about the fuel/brake lines. They're just way too close on the drivers side. The passenger side could fit any size muffler you want, as long as you work on the seat well. I'd have this setup in today if I can figure out what to do with the fuel lines.

I've got to either figure out how my setup is different that other peoples, or figure out how to modify mine to make it work, otherwise I'll be forced to get a different type of muffler

How close you talkin'? Ive have about 1/2 inch clearance on my driverside with my Thrush mufflers. They are a 4x9 case though.

Close enough to where it would be touching. If the muffler is almost touching the torque arm, then it's basically underneath the fuel/brake lines. Banging out the seat pans in this case wouldn't do anything unfortunately, unless these mufflers were about 8" or 9" wide. I've also got 4 channel ABS, so I might have more lines running than a car with 3 channel abs.

Here's a picture of the muffler in position:

The brake lines are almost touching the muffler when they snake back over toward the driveline hump. I'm not sure that I can move the muffler any more forward either... maybe just a hair, but not enough to make a massive difference.

I also double checked the dimensions, and they're 4.5 tall, by 13" long, by 10" wide.

That's what I was originally affraid of in my earlier post.. I think those mufflers are just a lil too big.. And the 1/2" height on the case is enough to make them too close to the lines.. And I would imagine your ground clearance would be gone if you tried to lower/angle the muffler down any? Sucks man, I feel you pain!

Yeah, I was talkin to a friend who owns a race shop and he said that you need 1/2" to 3/4" clearance between the muffler and floor pan to keep from setting the interior on fire, lol. I'm gonna go out and look one more time to see if I could move them forward any. If not, then I'm gonna have to scrap this muffler idea The duals are still goin on, I'll just have to do something like magnaflow 4x9's or something else.

Well, I've almost thrown in the towel, but I decided to try moving the muffler towards the rear end some more. The rear is supported and loaded, so I think it's about in the same spot that it would be on the ground.

In the future, when I have the lift up, I will be raising the vehicle with the suspension unloaded, so I'd like to keep the rear end from making contact with the mufflers. Here's a few shots of what I could come up with:

I don't know if the Dana 60 takes up any more room than the 10 bolt in this area or not. The torque arm hardware is a lot bigger than I was expecting though.

The mufflers I had the best clearance with were the Flowmaster Race 40 series.. The case size was 3x8x12 with 2.5" in/ou pipes.. I just had the muffler shop fashion a 3" in/ou on the case.. Worked great, just kinda loud.. Part# 325408

Yes and no. The lift is up (as of last week), hopefully today I can route the 220 lines thru the conduit and get it working. But, on a down note, my S60 rear has started to make a really bad bearing noise. I've put 21,000 miles on it and any kind of waranty it had has evaporated. I haven't driven it in about 3 weeks. I've got to figure out what's going on with that before I can dive into the fun stuff

Damn its like you always take two steps forward and one step back. I"ve been following this for a while and you just can't seem to catch a break. Hope to see it finished soon though.
