[QUOTE=djfury05;13334764]explain how an air lid would heat soak lol[/QUOTe
i suppose on a really hot day the under hood temps on a a solid hood vehicle could cause the lid to get hot and make the intake air temps higher than normal.... i think he meant it would raise the intake air temps ...
I kinda like the idea the plastic aftermarket ones crack pretty easy heat soaking would not be an issue with a meacham/transam style hood .. I overall like the idea plus he has them in 100mm

Even the plastic lids receive heat from the engine bay and
conduct it to the IAT sensor. Steel will increase the heat
conductivity relative to the air that's trying to set IAT
reading.
My experience with the SLP CAI (stainless) was also bad,
it raised temperature when added to my SS air path.
I don't expect WOT air temps would change hugely, but
you are at the mercy of IAT error and the tune, more
than the reality of incoming air temp.
I say walk away and don't look back.

If it's hot enough to heat the lid, the air itself detracts from power. . . If you're worried about the 'potential' of heat soak, just put a hole in your hood and run straight into the intake. It's a nice looking piece...
