I use German Castrol as well but may switch to Penzoil Platinum since I've been hearing the good reviews and it cost about half as much. How ofter do y'all change your oil time wise? I don't many miles on my car at all and don't believe I put 3k on it this last year. How long is it safe to run oil time wise?

Pennzoil Platinum is cheap and available at any walmart

I use a full 6 qts in mine
Glad to see there are some smart guys on here.O'Reillys had a special a couple months ago 5qts Syntec and a K&N filter for 27.99 Just so you know German Castrol is not a normal stocking item for them. But for some reason they had 3 cases of the stuff. And then they acquired another 5 cases, for me just because I am a good customer. So I have a good supply at a good price. Now thats a good deal ,the K&N filter regular price is 14 dollars. So that breaks down to 5 dollars a qt and only 2.99 for the filter.Watch for the specials, and stock up.AZ is the only one that I know that stocks it tho.

I use the new Pennzoil Ultra for the past 4000+ miles. I just ordered an analysis kit so I can get the oil tested... I will post back later with the results once I have it.

was running castrol syntec 5w-40 with AC Delco filter.. i just did an oil change yesterday and switched to castrol syntec 5w-30..

my oil pressure is still great, no loud valvetrain issues, no oil consumption issues at all.

Last change a few days ago was Mobile 1 high mileage 5w30 & Mobile 1 Extended performance filter. I change it every couple of mths because if I waited til I put 3-5k miles on it it would never get changed. It takes the occasional trip down the highway and the 5 miles mile commute to work on nice days..Its a parking space queen .

Wow! And here I thought 10W30 was the most common! Since Day 1, I've been using Mobile1 10W30 Synth and an M1-206 Mobile1 Filter.

So...what's the difference or the reasons to go 0W or 5W?

Use either M1, or Castrol Syntec/Edge depending on what's on sale. Do mostly long highway trips, so I change my oil every 8-10 k miles....

I use pennzoil platinum, and now pennzoil ultra, and a wix filter, this pennzoil is some good stuff, I noticed slightly better pressure with the ultra over platinum, nothing crazy tho, this stuff keeps my valvetrain quiet.

I use 5w for winter and 10w for summer.

Like to see test results for Ultra and Castrol Edge.I do not think they will be as good as German Castrol. As far as filters go, my first choice is K&N #HP 2006 its the long case, then Mobil One extended performance M1-107 and in 3rd place Purolator One the gold case.

You need to educate yourself about oil. Please do yourself a favor and go visit bobistheoilguy.com and read. It will save you from trying to misinform people in the future.

Personally I have been using GC 5w-30 for a while now and it seems fine, with a wix filter. My valvetrain is very noise though so I might try a different brand next time.

I've always heard to stay away from Penzoil products, but is the Ultra their newest line, and good to use? I've always used Mobil 1 in previous cars. Looking to do my first oil change on my '02 Z28

I use 5w30 or 10w30 depending on what season it is

I some times have to mix high mileage and regular mobil 1 and I use mobil 1 filters

There is a difference in synthetic and conventional, if you tear apart an engine that ran synthetic its going to be a lot cleaner.

platinum or ultra should both be better than mobile 1

a little research and you might be looking to pass up on the M1 instead
